Overview

William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is currently hiring an Accountant in our Indianapolis, IN office.

The Accountant is responsible for assisting the CFO and/or Controller in directing the day-to-day accounting functions of the company including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.

Responsibilities

    Analyze and reconcile various General Ledger accounts; direct correcting entries as needed
  • Assist Controller with preparing, reviewing and submitting month end/year end work papers and monthly package
  • Assist Controller with supporting schedules and reports to meet month end/year end close deadlines
  • Interpret SOX guidelines to ensure accurate controls and segregation of duties are in place to meet compliance
  • Reporting, implementing, and maintaining controls and process regarding any newly implemented accounting standards, including, but not limited, ASC 842 - Lease Accounting
  • Assist Controller with corporate requests as needed
  • Prepare monthly Financial Statements for the Controller and CFO
  • Prepare monthly Rolling Forecast Files for the Controller and CFO
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable collection
  • Assist in preparing prequalification reporting for various states.
  • Monitor and maintain cash flow spreadsheet and report to corporate weeklyMonitor bank accounts for ACH/Direct Deposit returns
  • Obtain and organize information for internal and external audits
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions for a more efficient and streamlined process in all accounting areas
  • May coordinate, direct, train and mentor other Accounting team members
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Five to seven years related experience
  • CPA preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working to the company's Zero Injury principles
  • Strong computer skills, specifically Viewpoint and Excel
  • Extensive knowledge in all aspects of construction accounting
  • Must be able to perform various excel functions such as VLOOKUP and Pivot tables. Spreadsheet server knowledge a plus
  • Proficient communication, interpersonal and organization skills along with an attention to detail and a high level of accuracy and professionalism
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with simultaneous deadlines and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to interact with multiple personalities at all levels within the organization
  • Preparation of reports
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
