Job Description

The Graphic Designer will be an integral part of our in-house creative team, Creative X. This position will be responsible for designing a variety of types of work for a number of different audiences. This role will primarily support the Security BU brands but with opportunities to work with other house brands.

Location:This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based out ofDeerfield, IL. Effective mid-2025, Fortune Brands will transition to a new world-class campus in Deerfield, bringing together associates from across our U.S. offices, brands, and functions.The campus will offer vibrant workspaces for collaboration, along with amenities for dining, onsite daycare, fitness, and recreation.

The work you'll be doing:

  • Designing and leading visually compelling brand experiences that are true and consistent with each brand's visual identity and guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with diverse cross-functional teams to develop creative work to drive seasonal campaign and strategic long-term goals which can be:
  • 35% Digital: landing pages, social media and paid campaign elements, seasonal email campaign, animated gifs.
  • 25% Shopper Marketing: in-store merchandising and point-of-purchase signage
  • 25% Brand Events: trade shows and consumer events
  • 15% Product Innovation: sell-sheets and packaging other printable collateral

Brand Management:

  • Protect, manage, and evolve the visual identity system to deliver consistent brand expression that ladders up to the global brand positioning for all consumer-facing touchpoints
  • Maintain brand style guidelines and ensure all marketing assets adhere to brand standards that define visual identity, tone of voice, messaging, and overall brand personality and imagery
  • Apply masterful grasp of design principles involving hierarchy, composition, typography, iconography, photography, color, and illustration
  • Provide creative guidance to agencies/partners/content creators to ensure assets are consistent with our brand style guidelines

Design Process:

  • Follow internal design tools for communicating with stakeholders.
  • Lead the internal design process from concept development to final production, ensuring high-quality output and timely delivery of assets.
  • Manage design projects and creative processes across multiple external agencies
  • Come up with new ideas and inventive ways to drive a design narrative within the brand
  • Collaborate closely with brand marketing and key stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into final assets
  • Present to stakeholders and actively incorporate their feedback throughout multiple revision rounds, ensuring all perspectives are considered and addressed
  • Management and organization of digital asset management
  • Balance and prioritize work across a range of projects from start to finish

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple assigned projects from deadline to execution, including facilitation of reviews both internally and externally while providing consistent updates and meeting varied deadlines.
  • Attend project meetings with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage timelines with minimal supervision and limited direction.
  • Offer thought leadership to solve business needs through smart design solutions. Reach design solutions quickly and efficiently, sometimes with multiple voices and stakeholders.
  • Function as the expert on Security's packaging standards, leading communication with vendors and Security Associates to drive accurate, complete packaging and ensure compliance with brand design - both now and in the future.
  • Create packaging for all new Security products launching at omni-channel retailers. Using graphic design expertise, ensure layout, color and design standards are met.
  • Consult with internal clients to create cohesive designs that reflect our goals and standards.
  • Stay abreast of and analyze trends in design.
  • Interpret feedback and solve to that appropriately; proactively manage the feedback loop.
  • Develop and provide art direction to CGI vendor for on-box product imagery.
  • Maintain file organization of art files utilizing FBIN's Digital Asset Management system.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Design or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of graphic design experience required.
  • Strong portfolio showing design skills and process.
  • Strong production skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Working knowledge of packaging industry, structure and print production.
  • Ability to translate concept ideas to presentable mock-ups.
  • Ability to work in a highly-collaborative, rapidly changing environment with tight timelines and multiple priorities.
  • Outstanding oral and presentation-based communication skills.
  • Ability to work in project management system such as Lytho, Workfront or Monday, as well as experience in a Digital Asset Management system, such as Widen.
  • Must be proficient in MAC operating systems, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe In-Design, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Additional Information

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $55,000 USD - $88,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
