ABOUT THE JOB

The Senior Vice President of Business Development and Sales is responsible for driving and executing WaterSurplus' strategic sales and revenue objectives. This role also leads the commercialization strategy for the ImpactRO and NanoStack product lines, focusing on high-recovery, high-efficiency, and water reuse market sectors, as well as key strategic customer

Responsibilities



  • Lead and oversee the ongoing development and commercialization of ImpactRO and NanoStack technologies, including pilot project management-data collection, analysis, and delivery of final reports to both customers and internal teams.
  • Leverage data from pilot and field studies to enhance existing products and develop innovative solutions in collaboration with the Chief Technology Officer.
  • Partner with the President to identify potential merger and acquisition targets for talent acquisition, new technologies, product offerings, and geographic market expansion.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales and commercialization plans for PFAS-focused products such as WaterPlus and ImpactRO, while also identifying emerging technologies for PFAS removal and destruction.
  • Actively source and secure pilot opportunities for rental and capital sales of ImpactRO and NanoStack technologies in water and water reuse markets.
  • Support commercial plant operations using membrane technology and industrial water treatment systems; works to convert pilot programs into long-term rentals or capital equipment sales.
  • Collaborate with the SVP of Operations and VP of Engineering to finalize a comprehensive, proprietary ImpactRO pre-engineered product series for the beverage, industrial, and municipal sectors.
  • Lead the creation of supporting documentation including:

    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
    • General Arrangement (GA) Drawings
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    • Costing and product specifications
    • Operations manuals and marketing collateral


  • Ensure that ImpactRO and NanoStack technologies comply with all relevant industry certifications (ANSI, NSF, ISO, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the Product Development Manager to develop business plans for each pre-engineered product line, establishing annual sales goals and identifying key market segments.
  • Engage with key customers and engineering firms to promote WaterSurplus solutions (WaterPlus, ImpactRO, NanoStack, OxiPlus, etc.), working to position products as the basis of design in RFQs/RFPs and final bid specifications.
  • Participate in corporate business planning and marketing strategy, providing recommendations for facilities, staffing, and capital investments.
  • Develop and implement a five-year strategic sales plan across all business units.
  • Design and manage sales incentive programs across the organization.
  • Review and analyze balance sheet and P&L performance across all sales divisions.
  • Oversee the creation and submission of customer proposals and sales documentation.
  • Support the preparation of process flow diagrams for pilot systems and sales proposals.
  • Other duties as assigned.


ABOUT YOU



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the water, wastewater, environmental, or chemical industries.
  • Deep technical expertise in all WaterSurplus products, technologies, and services.
  • Proven ability to thrive in collaborative, team-oriented environments with a strong focus on achieving organizational sales and performance goals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish and maintain strong internal and external partnerships.
  • Demonstrated success in contributing to and shaping strategic sales initiatives within a leadership capacity.
  • Ability to interpret complex water analysis data and recommend appropriate treatment technologies, including filtration, adsorption, membrane systems, and ion exchange processes.
  • Strong skills in sales strategy, marketing, and technical troubleshooting, with working knowledge of fluid dynamics and process control considered a plus.
  • Experience in recruiting, leading, and developing high-performing sales teams, including both in-house and external representatives.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while delivering high-quality results and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Advanced knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics, including their practical applications in engineering and process analysis.
  • Strong understanding and predictive capability in physical principles and laws, with applications to fluid mechanics, materials science, atmospheric dynamics, mechanical systems, and electrical processes.
  • Extensive expertise in sales and marketing strategies, including market segmentation, competitive positioning, and industry-specific targeting.
  • Proven ability to plan, develop, and forecast sales performance by industry sector, geography, and annual targets.
  • Demonstrated success in sales team leadership, including team building, performance management, and motivation of both internal and external sales representatives.
  • Proficient in design principles, techniques, and tools used in the creation of detailed technical plans, blueprints, 3D models, and schematics for complex water treatment systems.
  • Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and electronic systems, along with experience using computer hardware and industry-relevant software.
  • Familiarity with software programming concepts as they relate to equipment control and system automation.
  • Strong knowledge of customer service principles, including assessment, quality assurance, and continuous improvement based on customer feedback.
  • Proven ability to manage key customer relationships and deliver a high level of satisfaction in technical and consultative sales environments.
  • Microsoft Office Suite - Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Project Management Software - Proficient in Microsoft Project or equivalent platforms.
  • ERP Systems - Experience with WinMan or similar enterprise resource planning software.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to operate office equipment, fax, printer, and computer. May stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift frequently - 4 to 6 hours a day.

  • Requires 25-50% travel, both within the U.S. and internationally
