The Insurance and Claims Analyst II is a professional with working knowledge and experience in Insurance & Claims principles, practices, concepts, and theories. The incumbent coordinates internal claims processes in order to enhance risk management practices and mitigate the company's financial and legal exposure from claims. The incumbent will be experienced in managing datasets and utilizing data and statistical analysis tools to help seamlessly manage insurance and claims processes. This role requires a mindset for continuous improvement and data driven decision making. Key Responsibilities
- Drive efficient third-party claims management including investigation, assessment of liability, and claims adjustment; interact professionally with customers/claimants to drive complex negotiation discussions for timely and fair resolution of claims
- Perform a detailed evaluation to assess the scope and complexity of claims to determine Cleco's responsibility/liability to ensure fair and appropriate resolutions
- Coordinate internal claims management operations through the effective use of technology, capturing all claims by maintaining a claims database to produce business reports and monitor claims activity accurately
- Prepare loss analysis and budgets after proper identification of multiple exposures and identifying suitable solutions, evaluate liability reserves and functional budget to achieve short-term goals, and interpret Finance KPIs/metrics and derive insights into actionable opportunities
- Leverage available internal and industry data to identify and implement leading practices for comprehensive claims and risk management procedures
- Identify end-to-end claims-related documents, develop performance metrics, and evaluate systems and vendors to drive continuous improvement in the claims management, analysis, and reporting processes
- Provide training to operations, construction and call center personnel regarding the liability claims process and risk mitigation, and be responsible for any other necessary field training related to claims and litigation risks
- Lead the development and implementation of appropriate metrics to manage business risks and improve decision making; consider future implications beyond an immediate problem
- Contribute innovative ideas to develop and drive continuous improvement of Risk Management service delivery and processes; identify areas for automation to reduce manual, routine tasks
- Stay up to date with all department software with a continued focus on utilizing tools to improve accuracy and efficiency of Insurance and Claims; participate in the integration of current systems (e.g., SAP) and analytical techniques to enhance/streamline current operations
- Maintain insurance and claims-related information and identify system and process initiatives to increase efficiency; support training efforts to maintain corporate awareness of insurance and claims management processes
- Investigate and pursue reimbursement from responsible party(ies) for damage to Cleco property
- Perform analysis of business needs to facilitate insurance renewal processes; develop and maintain periodic and ad-hoc reports to be shared with the leadership; use data analysis and for driving report creation
- Coordinates contractor compliance with ISN/Cleco insurance requirements and efficient certificates of insurance (COI) tracking and maintenance
- Provide support to Insurance/Claims Manager on insurance renewal applications/data submissions, claims management and litigation matters

Qualifications Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business or related field
- 7+ years of related experience in claims processing
- Experience in litigation management and outside counsel oversight to minimize company's litigation risk exposure
- Experience with claims management process with track record of success and/or significant contribution leading to improvement in processes of claims standards
- Strong knowledge of industry and claims trends, litigation and claims risk mitigation practices and leading practices
- Ability to negotiate with and influence third party claimants
- Adheres to all applicable laws, company policy, and ethical standards
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and project management skills
- Ability to exercise judgment with little direction/guidance but also knows when to escalate to the Manager, Insurance & Claims
- Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner
- Step progression to this level is typically restricted based on business requirement
Licenses and Certifications
- Louisiana Property & Casualty or Adjuster's License preferred
