SUMMARY:

The Lead Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and integration solutions that support enterprise analytics and data-driven decision-making. This role leads data onboarding, modeling, and governance efforts across cloud-based data platforms, ensuring high standards of data quality, security, and performance throughout the project lifecycle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable data pipelines and integration workflows.
  • Provide strategic direction and technical guidance to analytics teams and contractors.
  • Integrate and maintain data platforms, including Snowflake and AWS environments.
  • Develop and maintain application data integration using ETL tools, scripting, and APIs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Monitor and optimize data platform performance and compliance (AWS, Snowflake).
  • Recommend and implement technology upgrades and enhancements.
  • Lead user acceptance testing and ensure successful deployment of data solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences across all levels of the organization.



REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:



  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology or STEM related.
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, master data, or digital platforms.
  • Expertise in data architecture, ETL processes, data modeling, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills for gathering and conveying requirements.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies, design thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work independently in a fast-paced environment.



PREFFERED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:



  • Experience in pharmaceutical commercial data environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Snowflake, Veeva, SAP CDC, Adobe, PowerBI, SQL Server, and dbt.
  • Familiarity with IQVIA data, media data, and customer data platforms.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification



TRAVEL:



  • Some domestic and international travel may be required.


The range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Illinois, if selected for this role, and may vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $133,000 - $160,000 and eligibility for a 15% bonus target based on company and individual performance. Benefits for this position include flexible paid time off (PTO), health benefits to include Medical, Dental and Vision and company match 401k.
