Human Resource Business Partner - Senior Human Resource Business Partner Job Summary

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for building partnerships with assigned client partners to deliver value-added HR services, support and guidance to management and employees, that align to the business objectives of the organization and the business unit(s).

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Continuously exhibit and uphold Core Values of Integrity, Accountability, Communication and Teamwork, Innovation and Customer Service
  • Consult with management and business leaders to solve people and cultural issues of varying scope and complexity
  • Provide guidance on employment related inquiries from employees and managers in all functional areas of HR (i.e. payroll, benefits, recruiting, etc...) and escalate more complex questions to specialist as needed
  • Provide performance management guidance to client partners (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Conduct meetings on a regular cadence with assigned client partners
  • Maintain an effective level of business literacy about the assigned client partners' operations, short- mid- and long-range plans and its internal culture
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR specialists/COE's to develop solutions, approaches and strategies
  • Assist with the communication and rollout of updated or new HR programs and policies
  • Provide guidance and input on client partner restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Advocate for HR programs by communicating the business value of HR initiatives to employees and managers
  • Identify training needs for client partners and individual coaching needs; assist management in the development of SMART goals and IDP's
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success and conduct follow-up to ensure training objectives are met
  • Partner with the business and HR peers on key initiatives
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues
  • Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Partner with in-house or outside legal counsel as needed
  • Draft or review various HR documents (i.e. job descriptions, promotion agreements, status forms)
  • Assist other HR functions (i.e. HR Service Center, Recruiting, Compensation) as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Intermediate knowledge of and proficiency in multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, benefits, organizational design and workforce planning, employee relations, diversity, equity and inclusion, performance management, recruiting and selection and employee relations
  • Intermediate knowledge of and proficiency in Federal (EEO, FMLA, FLSA, ADA) and state employment laws
  • Ability to build relationships and influence decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strategic thinker with creative problem-solving abilities

HR Business Partner Experience and Education



  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of three years of Human Resources experience (Generalist, Employee Relations, HRBP, Specialist) required
  • Certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred



Senior HR Business Partner Experience and Education



  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of five years of Human Resources experience (Generalist, Employee Relations, HRBP) required
  • Experience in insurance industry preferred
  • Certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred
