Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking an experienced Controller to support accounting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, and other financial functions. This is an on-site position at our headquarters in Lanham, MD.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for the general and cost accounting, payroll,
    accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, cash management, property
    accountability, tax reporting, and records management functions.
  • Provides guidance and training to the contract administration
    staff in all areas of contracts management.
  • Functions as a direct liaison between the company and DCAA,
    public accounting firms, and other outside organizations.
  • Informs and advises the management staff of all matters that
    could impact the Company's profitability, reputation, or financial position and
    operations.
  • Provides a direct liaison for the Company's banking requirements.
  • Plans and organizes the accounting/contracts operations and
    establishes comprehensive operating procedures within the Company's guidelines
    and policies.
  • Directs the development of accounting policies and ensures the
    administration-approved accounting procedures.
  • Maintains a complete working knowledge of the overall accounting
    operation and reviews the system to ensure that integrity and objectivity are
    inherent.
  • Is responsible for training and staffing the
    accounting/finance/contract operations.
  • Decide and Organize projects priorities.
  • Independently works through situational issues and uses problem
    solving skills to achieve desired project outcome.
  • Follows instructions; responds to management direction; accepts
    personal responsibility for actions, performance, and results; keeps
    commitments; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an
    alternate plan.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits
    objectivity and openness to others' views; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes
    to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests; supports
    everyone's efforts to succeed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) and a minimum of 15 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience in Government contracting required.
