Job Details:
The Biology department is searching for a Coordinator of Laboratory Services on the Macon, Georgia campus.

Responsibilities:

Independently coordinates laboratories - including, but not limited to: maintaining supplies, equipment and computers; and supervising student workers for the Biology Department. The Coordinator is responsible for the set up and breakdown of materials for laboratory section including preparation of solutions, maintaining equipment (e.g. autoclave, centrifuges, spectrometers, microscopes, etc.), purchasing supplies and equipment; training, supervising and evaluating 2-10 student workers; maintaining MSDS safety sheets and safety equipment; and must be prepared to handle chemical emergencies.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field is required. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an associate's degree in a related field and an equivalent number of years of experience will also be considered. Must have technical experience with laboratory equipment and be able to function in a technical environment using special equipment and methods.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must have ability to set up and breakdown of materials for laboratory section including preparation of solutions, maintain equipment (e.g. autoclave, centrifuges, spectrometers, microscopes, etc.), purchase supplies and equipment.
  • Must be able to train, supervise and evaluate 2-10 student workers, maintain MSDS safety sheets and safety equipment, and be prepared to handle chemical emergencies.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds to move equipment and/or storage with or without reasonable accommodation.
