Overview

Position will provide support to students through the CARE Center which may include career services, case management, and student engagement. This position will work closely with the Career Services and Leadership Development Coordinator, Student Counselor and Case Manager, and Student Engagement Specialist. Position will meet with students one-on-one or in groups to offer support and services.



Responsibilities

Career Services:

    Conduct mock interviews and provide resume rereviews for current students and alumni
  • Meet one-on-one with students to assist with the internship and job search process
  • Help manage the online job platform, Handshake

Case Management:

  • Provide case management services for students to help learn about and access on-campus and community resources
  • Assist with emergency assistance programming (meeting with students 1:1, Student Cupboard, Coins for Caring, etc.)
  • Assist with Non-Traditional Occupation programming by meeting with students, developing informational outreach, planning and facilitating events

Student Engagement:

  • Coordinate a variety of co-curricular and student events and programs to support student life
  • Assist in planning and coordinating the Student Awards Ceremony
  • Develop and assist with initiatives and programming for the Student Commons and IDEA Lounge

Other:

  • Attend monthly staff meetings, and biweekly meetings with supervisor.
  • Assist with tracking, compiling, and entering grant information in Banner, Excel, and/or Access
  • Learn the student information system, Banner, and the Early Alert System, StarFish
  • Assist with presenting professional development workshops and class visits
  • Assist with planning and executing career fairs, community resource fairs, Diversity and Inclusion Summit, and the CARE Conference


Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills

Education & Experience:

  1. Student currently enrolled in Education, Counseling, Human Resources, or Student Affairs related Bachelor or Master Degree.
  2. Previous experience in student services and/or career services related position.

Blackhawk Technical College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.
