Duration: 6 Months

Location: 9701 Old Statesville Road, Charlotte, NC 28269

Shift Timing: 1st-

Salary: $22.00/hr. on w2 without benefits

Job Summary:

  • Skilled and reliable Maintenance Mechanic to support the daily operations of our engineering labs. This individual will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide variety of mechanical, HVAC, and test equipment used in research and development testing. Must have strong mechanical aptitude, experience in a technical lab or manufacturing environment, and a commitment to safety and quality.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on lab infrastructure and HVAC test equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on compressors, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, valves, and related components.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new test rigs and lab systems, including mechanical hookups, alignments, and calibrations.
  • Maintain accurate service logs and preventive maintenance records.
  • Conduct inspections and safety checks of lab utilities, including chilled water, compressed air, refrigerant systems, and electrical interfaces.
  • Follow and enforce safety protocols and lab operating procedures in accordance with Carrier and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab maintenance workspace and inventory.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or HVAC systems in a lab, manufacturing, or industrial setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and test instruments.
  • Understanding of safety procedures and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
  • Comfortable working in a test environment with experimental systems and changing configurations.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical troubleshooting.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • EPA 608 Certification (Universal).
  • Experience working with HVAC/R test labs or environmental chambers.
  • Forklift or overhead crane certification is a plus.
