Job Summary

Performs fabrication and assembly operations on Piping products with minimum supervision; set up, plan, layout, and operate fabrication equipment as required.


Essential Duties

  • Cuts, grooves, grinds, assembles, installs valves, threads pipe, performs layout, sets up equipment, positions, aligns, fits and tack-welds as required. Operates overhead crane and forklift as required.
  • Studies and interprets shop drawings to determine necessary work to be performed. Utilizes material provided to produce product with a minimum of waste and rework.
  • Maintains the work area in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. Support the implementation of 6S methodology for workplace organization and efficiency. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the foreman. Meets and maintains quality and production standards for all work product.
  • Keeps the shop foreman and other key project personnel aware of all issues affecting production, schedule and cost. Notifies supervisor of equipment malfunction, and performs operator-based maintenance as required. Ensures proper recording of time spent on individual work orders is accurate.
  • Maintains proper use of all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Must be certified to operate various types of lifts, including forklifts and overhead cranes.

1-2 years of experience

Strong mechanical skills including proficiency in using a variety of tools and reading blueprints are essential.

Must have the ability to operate Piping Standard Work Instructions (SWI) for Oxy/Act Torch, Grooving, Threading, Cutting, Tack Welding, and Fitting.

Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to see a problem, diagnose the source and fix the issue.
