Job Description

Job Title: Regional Production Manager

Reports To: Vice President of Operations

Summary: Responsible for one production operation with possibility to manage multiple shops. Position must ensure safety compliance is met, service to MIR's customers are at acceptable levels, and efficiency goals are achieved. Facilitates the achievement of goals by interacting with regional managers, outside sales, production, and office staff. Often the regional manager is also the production manager for one or more of the shops within the responsible group of facilities and is required to also perform the duties defined for the production manager role.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  1. Regional Production Management
  2. Assists the VP of Operations in meeting corporate goals regarding safety, service, and productivity
  3. Proactively works with the peer group of regional managers to improve metrics, initiate and lead improvement projects and implement controls in order to sustain improved results.
  4. Actively manage all facilities under his/her leadership on a regular cadence to communicate results, engage employee involvement and ensure facilities are operating in a manner to achieve results.
  5. Directly supervises all production leads for the assigned facilities regarding performance and goal achievement. Actively coaches direct reports on leadership and manufacturing discipline.
  6. Participates in weekly and monthly production calls. Reports metric trends, issues and improvement initiatives.
  7. Meets with regional production teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities to meet goals in service, quality and productivity. Monitors progress and holds the teams accountable to achieve results.
  8. Able to quickly and efficiently command control in emergency situations involving safety or customer service, able to establish a plan of action, communicates effectively with all parties involved, implements a short-term plan of action. Establishes long term corrective action to prevent the failure from reoccurring.
  9. Ensures proper inventory control occurs at all facilities including shop supply reduction, cycle counting and physical inventory.
  10. Ensures all shops manage proper housekeeping and safety compliance.

Shop Operations

  1. Monitors sales and work order dashboards for their region for capacity and service adherence. Capable of moving orders to balance system capacity and meet committed delivery dates. Works with peers to help other facilities or solicit help and balance demand requirements with available capacity to produce.
  2. Ensures training programs for associates are followed. Approves all SO+ testing requirements.
  3. Oversees region for time balancing and approval. Responsible for time balancing for any hourly direct reports.
  4. Able to trouble shoot all areas of manufacturing from scheduling through shipping including installation work.
  5. Oversees annual performance review process and goal setting.
  1. Safety
  2. Confer with Safety Manager to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to understand policies, regulations, business initiatives and technologies
  3. Assist employees with problems concerning how to perform specific tasks to the safest extent possible
  4. Administer best practices and training programs designed by Safety Manager to help MIR meet our goal of "zero" accidents and injuries
  5. Provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees through technical support and direction.

  1. Customer Service & Sales Support
  2. Travel alongside the sales team to understand the customer base, product applications, demonstration process and sales cycle.
  3. Communicates effectively with sales team and customer service.
  4. Responsible to ensure all RMA's for facilities have root cause and corrective action in place. Monitors quality credits as a % of sales for facilities assigned.

  2. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MIR's policies, procedures, and applicable laws
  3. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  2. Projects a professional and courteous demeanor when communicating with supervisors, co-workers, staff, customers, and suppliers.
  1. Management
  2. In addition to the above duties, the Regional Production Manager is responsible for the quality and quantity of work processed in the branches assigned and for the organization and allocation of work assigned to the staff.
  3. Responsible for all tasks of the branches from scheduling to shipping.

Education and Experience:

  1. College degree
  2. 3 to 5 years' experience as conveyor belt fabricator or related field required with at least 2 years supervisory experience

Computer Skills

  1. Position requires ability to understand and utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Experience with Global Shop or similar ERP software is a plus.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Able to utilize trend charts.

Extended travel is required
