JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology, and Simmons Cancer Center Kidney Cancer Program is recruiting for a medical writer for the Kidney Cancer Program (KCP). Recognized with a Leaders in Clinical Excellence award, a finalist Healthcare Innovation award by D CEO and Dallas Innovates and with a Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) award by the National Cancer Institute, the KCP is a trailblazing program in the country, and one of the few to develop a drug from gene discovery to FDA approval. The position will assist with grants and manuscript writing/submission, progress reports, pre- and post-awards, material transfer agreements, and publicizing information about the KCP through traditional and social media channels. The position will join a team that includes a Program Coordinator and Operations Analyst. Applicants must have an interest in biology and possess excellent writing skills, attentive to detail, possess excellent communication, goal-oriented, well-organized, and possess time management skills. Experience in research administration and grant management is encouraged but not essential. A Ph.D. degree is helpful.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education
    Master's Degree In Biology or related field of biological science or


  • Experience
    2 years Related experience, including experience authoring research publications


Preferred



  • Education
    PhD in related field


JOB DUTIES



  • Develop and maintain the scientific content of a comprehensive, web-accessible laboratory research data archive for use by internal and third party research organizations.
  • Collaborate with PI's and other laboratory personnel to gather sufficient information for insertion into the research database.
  • Research and critically evaluate internal and external primary literature and biological databases, and compile relevant information to support the work of the subject laboratory.
  • Coordinate the acquisition and submission of research data to relevant third party databases.
  • Assist PI's and other researchers with grant submissions, and with preparation of papers for publication.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of primary research subject matter through self-study, attendance at training seminars, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
