This role is a hybrid position
Some roles require an office while others may be done remotely. This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston, MA; Seattle, WA or Goleta, CA office locations.

As a Technical Sales Engineer you will address the frequent technical design requests Sonos receives for integrating our products into commercial and high-end audio installation projects. You will drive our coverage and sales closure rates on high value and complex sales opportunities. This role will help Sonos succeed in the commercial environment where this type of resource is expected, and will enable the company to provide superior technical support, build stronger relationships, and drive increased adoption of Sonos products in the high end projects.

What You'll Do

  • Consult with customers and partners to understand their requirements and provide Sonos product technical design recommendations ensuring alignment with their project objectives and expectations. Emphasis will be placed on high value commercial and residential sales opportunities.

  • Collaborate with the Sonos sales team to understand customer requirements and create tailored Sonos audio product solutions, technical proposals, presentations, and documentation to support the sales process.

  • Provide pre-sales technical support, answering inquiries, resolving technical issues, and addressing customer concerns. Create best practices documentation around Sonos implementations, 3rd party integrations and acoustic design.

  • Assist in identifying the best audio solutions to meet customer specific needs, including how Sonos can integrate with other systems.

  • Conduct engaging and informative product demonstrations to showcase the capabilities and features of our audio hardware and software.

  • Share insights, best practices, and technical updates with the sales and marketing teams to support their initiatives and strategies.

  • Work alongside our Global Training Team to conduct training sessions and workshops for customers, partners, and internal teams to enhance product knowledge and technical skills.

What You'll Need

Basic Qualifications

  • AVIXA CTS certification.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in technical pre-sales or a similar role in the audio industry.

  • Minimum of two years installing a/v or networking equipment in the field.

  • Minimum of one year in IT or network engineering including troubleshooting.

  • Experience with installing a/v systems in large public and commercial spaces.

  • Familiarity with Computer-aided design (CAD) files and programs

  • Experience using EASE files

  • Sonos familiarity and installation experience

  • Strong knowledge of audio hardware, software, digital signal processing, IT/network engineering, and related technologies.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.

  • Proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service and building long-term relationships.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Willingness to travel as needed for customer meetings, events, and trade shows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field in the audio industry.

  • Extensive experience designing and/or implementing Sonos in large commercial projects.

  • Avixa CTS-D and/or CEDIA ESC-D Certification

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:

$123,000 and $153,800

The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate's geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
