Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Trauma Registrar to join the team. This role is Full-time working 8am-4:30pm Monday to Friday.

Trauma Registrar Job Responsibilities:



  • Manages the trauma registry database and perform medical record reviews to support department, hospital, state and national requirements.
  • Abstracts all required data elements utilizing national, state and local data dictionaries to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Maintains the structure and integrity of all data by performing regular quality checks as delineated in the Performance Improvement Plan.
  • Ensures compliance with Inova, HIPPA, and all regulatory requirements related to the trauma registry.
  • Ensures the availability of trauma registry data for timely reports to the state and others through chart closure within 60 days of patient discharge.
  • Ensures coding is accurate and appropriate to reflect patient acuity (ISS scores).
  • Ensures the identification and inclusion of all trauma patients in the trauma registry through analysis of EPIC-generated reports.
  • Monitors vendor performance to ensure effective and efficient use of products, services, and technical support.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:



  • Education: Associate degree (or relevant experience in lieu of degree).
  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience with Electronic Health Records
  • Certification: Completion within 6 months of hire:

    • Trauma Registry Course
    • AAAM Abbreviated Injury Scale Course
    • ICD-10 Course, with a refresher course every 5 years
