Summary:

We are hiring a Biomedical Equipment Technician to support the WRAIR contract in Silver Spring Maryland.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • The Biomedical Equipment Technician applies advanced technical knowledge to solve problems associated with biomedical and scientific equipment.
  • Identifies damage, through visual inspection, to biomedical equipment and medical instruments.
  • Maintain and calibrate TMDE such as electrical safety analyzers, defibrillator analyzers, patient simulators, multimeters, and pressure/vacuum meters. Ensure all TMDE is properly labeled, traceable, and calibrated in accordance with TB 750-25 and Ar 750-43. Track TMDE due dates and ensure timely calibration by approved metrology sources (e.g., US Army TMDE support centers). Assist with medical equipment acceptance inspections and configuration control, ensuring validated TMDE is used.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to research and clinical staff on equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Performs inspection, testing, and repair to biomedical and scientific equipment.
  • The Biomedical Equipment Technician shall be on site during the normal working hours.
  • Some overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Possess knowledge of medical terminology and physiology.
  • Shall be knowledgeable in Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS)
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English
  • Familiar with the biomedical maintenance field and its concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Possess training and certification in inspecting, testing, and repairing life-saving support equipment (i.e. equipment used to sustain and preserve life such as defibrillators, ventilators, anesthesia units, etc.).
  • Possess the ability to pass a NACI background investigation and to acquire a CAC.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate of the military/DOD Biomedical Equipment Specialist/Technician course or an accredited college Biomedical Equipment Technician course.
  • Minimum four years' experience in repair and maintenance of medical devices and systems.
  • A background check will be conducted, must be able to obtain CACard and have a clean background.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $75,000.00-$85,000.00 annually.
