Position Purpose
Responsible for execution of a broad range of communications activities for the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, with an emphasis on internal communications, web, and social media content creation and management. These activities include: developing and managing social media content; developing content for and updating Geisel's website; overseeing creation and updates of Geisel's internal newsletter; and other communications related tasks. This individual will work effectively with diverse teams of faculty and staff across Geisel's education and research programs, press, freelancers, and vendors.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • 2-5 years of relevant communications or marketing experience
  • Experience with communications strategy and execution
  • Experience developing and writing informative and creative content for web, print, social media, and other communications channels
  • 1 - 2 years experience with social media strategy and management
  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and other social media channels and best practices
  • Ability to understand complex topics and translate them into clear communications
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with WordPress or similar content management systems
  • Experience with health and healthcare
  • Familiarity with web design and publishing
  • Experience with Stripo, Hubspot, or other similar email marketing platforms
  • Experience with Sprout Social, Zoho Social, or other similar social media management platforms.
  • Experience in writing articles, press releases, and memos.
  • Experience in producing video and audio content

Key Accountabilities


Description
Content Creation and Management

  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to maintain Geisel's website with impactful, compelling information.
  • Works closely with faculty and staff to develop key messages and stories that communicate the impact of Geisel's research and education to a variety of audiences.
  • Creates engaging text and multimedia content
  • Composes written copy (press releases, articles, internal communications, social media, and marketing copy) that is clear, compelling, and adapted to intended audience.
  • Edit content produced by other team members
  • Responsible for production and dissemination of weekly Geisel Insider e-newsletter.
  • Assists with creation of other email-based content and training others to use email development and dissemination system.
  • Manages photos and videos in our digital asset management system.

Description
Social Media Management

  • In collaboration with the Director of Communications and Director of Digital Marketing, develops and executes a comprehensive social media strategy to support the education and research missions of the Medical School.
  • Helps manage day-to-day activities on Geisel's social media channels, including developing and posting new content, monitoring social media for mentions and opportunities, managing replies.
  • Stays up-to-date with changes in all social media platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness

Description
General Communications/Administration and Planning

  • Stays abreast of and proposes multi-media and technology tools and enhancements, when appropriate, that advance Geisel's communications agenda.
  • Assists in developing and managing communications activities in support of the core mission, goals and brand of the medical school and its research enterprise
  • Helps manage team's work in project management system.
  • Performs other duties as required.
