Opportunity Overview: Consultant, Corporate Strategy, Westinghouse Title: Consultant, Corporate Strategy Location: Remote Length of contract: 2 months Role overview:
- Lead and help the Business Units and Segments develop strategies that drive above-market organic and inorganic growth, working closely with BU leadership to ensure both cross-functional involvement and real-time input as the external environment evolves (e.g., technology, customer needs, regulations, competitors, etc.)
- Identify new growth platforms, growth opportunities within business units, and across businesses - through the identification of attractive market spaces, determining what it takes to win, assessing competitive position and business models, and then helping the organization to align on the strategic direction and execution plan
- Ensure that the business strategies clearly articulate the business choices, are well-defined, lay out talent and resource requirements, and are implementable. Successful strategy delivery should result in industry-leading growth and profit margins. Work products should support key choices and decisions made by our CEO and his staff. Produce high visibility materials to be utilized in presentations to our Board of Directors
- Identify, synthesize, and communicate key trends across industries, segments, regions and competitors
- Support and execute the strategic planning process by working collaboratively to support and execute the development of robust work products in a timely manner
What your day-to-day looks like:
- Lead the identification and assessment of strategic growth opportunities in collaboration with the executive team, Business Unit leaders and their staff
- Lead cross functional teams of leaders, for the development and delivery of high-quality strategic assessments and plans
- Lead in-depth competitor analysis exercises with key stakeholders across Westinghouse
- Support Westinghouse's owners in their evaluation of new and existing markets, technologies, and acquisitions
- Work collaboratively with talented colleagues within and outside of the Strategy function so that expertise and business knowledge across the company can be utilized and incorporated into assessments
- Collaborate with Corporate Development team to determine and decide on the strategic fit for targeted acquisitions
- Stay abreast of industry trends, dynamics, and their impact to Westinghouse
- Report to executive management on market implications, strategic assessments, and overall strategic planning process milestones
What we need to see from you:
- 5 or more years of cumulative business experience, including 1-2 years post-MBA at a major top tier Management Consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, LEK). Preference for experience in manufacturing, energy, or utility industry. In addition, a couple of years of experience in engineering or product management or operations or commercial is preferable
- Individual should be a strategy practitioner well versed in the theory and tools of strategy formulation as well as the practical implementation of strategy within a complex organization
- Well-honed understanding of the key levers to deliver superior and consistent total shareholder return (TSR), and significant project experience pulling these levers
- Operational track record of dealing with strategic business issues including microeconomics, industry structure, operations strategy, and finance
- Familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle - with experience applying these skills in managing large teams and leading complex projects
- International experience is a plus but is not required
- A desire to drive a leadership position for Westinghouse towards a carbon free grid of the future
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or relevant subjects
- MBA or equivalent from a top program
