Senior Data Engineer

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following locations: NC, AZ

This position provides complex technical support to data processing systems through enhancement of related software and processes. Develops software and procedures that improve processing capabilities. Analyzes, codes, tests, and implements in coordination with management, associates, and end users. Serves as production system support by resolving issues and ensuring ongoing functionality. May oversee the work of less experienced associates or assist in special projects as needed.

• System Enhancement - Leads team efforts to evaluate and improve Data Engineering systems, processes, and applications. Utilizes programming specifications to construct modules, develop testing methods, and assists with designing training materials. Designs and executes test plans to validate application functions. Designs modifications that fit within existing system architecture.
• Data Integrations - Collects data related to business requests and determines scope, time estimates, and system impacts. Inspects business specifications, programming specifications, coding, test plans, documentation, and implementation plans for accuracy.
• Business Support - Provides technical support to production systems by addressing reported issues, anticipating maintenance requirements, and ensuring functionality for end user needs. Drafts documentation to be used for system, end user, and operational purposes, including technical specifications and application designs.
• Technical Expertise - Responsible for complex involvement in the software development life cycle including the creation, enhancement, implementation, and evaluation of software. Serves as a technical resource for management, associates, and business units.
• On-call Support - Provides on-call support to address production incidents as needed.

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance

Preferred Area of Experience: Data Lake, Data Platforms, Data Products, Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, Data Consumption, ELT, ETL, SQL, AWS, Snowflake, Python, dbt(Data Build Tool), Data Vault Modeling, Azure DevOps or similar version control, SQL Scripting

Skills:

• Strong understanding of data modelling, data platform design, and data warehousing principles.
• Experience in developing data warehouse solutions, end-to-end development life-cycle support and SDLC processes.
• Excellent Programming experience in Python.
• Knowledge of database platforms and application design.
• Strong knowledge of technology infrastructure management & vulnerability management.
• Experience in data technology and delivery across multiple platforms (eg: Snowflake, Netezza, Collibra, Oracle).
• Experience with Data Movement & Consumption (Eg: ETL, ELT, dbt, DataStage, Informatica, Denodo).
• Excellent understating for Data consumption & reporting techniques.
• Working experience in financial services Data integrations.
• Ability to maximize data-based value additions for key business units.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to define new data needs.
• Experience building and sustaining credibility with business partners and leaders across an organization.
• Proven ability to deliver solutions that solve complex problems, using thought leadership and independent thinking skills.
• Outstanding presentation & communication skills, with ability to clearly articulate complex processes/situations to executive leadership.
