Overview
Learn on-the-job under the supervision of Journeyworkers or qualified professional. Apprentices will begin by learning the core construction skills that provide a foundation of safety and productivity across all industry sectors. These include but are not limited to: Construction Site Safety Orientation; Introduction to Construction Math, Hand Tools, Power Tools, Construction Drawings, Basic Rigging and Material Handling; Basic Communication and Employability Skills; Confined Space Awareness; Fall Protection; and First Aid/CPR/AED. Successful completion of core skills means a move to increased industry knowledge in one or more areas of concentration: Industrial, Wind and Solar Construction. Responsible for operating various types of heavy equipment, including but not limited to compact loader, skid steer, loader/backhoe, mini-excavator, forklift, tractors, rollers, motor grader, excavator, dozer, scraper, trackhoe, skid pan, trencher to perform construction task such as land clearing, common/mass excavation, pond/reservoir excavation, rough grade/finish grade roadway, underground utility work for various types of heavy construction projects. Qualifications Education and Work Experience Requirements: * Must be at least 18 years of age * 0 to 6,000 On the job Training hours * Experience using basic power tools preferred * Reliable transportation to and from work site Less than 4 years construction experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: * Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles * Ability to travel and work away from home base area for the entire duration of the apprenticeship program * Ability to perform tasks as directed by a Journeyworker or qualified professional * Written and verbal communication skills Working Environment: * Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions * Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, and extreme heat * Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration * Noise level in the work environment is usually loud What's in it for you Financial Wellbeing
