Expand MBSD's impact and achieve ambitious philanthropic goals for one of the world's premier academic medical centers. The University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences Development (MBSD) team is growing. MBSD is seeking three experienced and mission-driven Directors of Individual Giving to lead fundraising efforts in support of critical service lines: neurology, cancer, and orthopaedics. Each Director will manage a major and principal gifts portfolio and oversee all individual giving strategies for their assigned service line. Directors will collaborate with department chairs and physician leadersto align philanthropic strategy with medical innovation and patient needs. They will steward relationships with patients, families, and donors with care and intention, and play a leadership role within a high-performing advancement team. Responsibilities: Manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects, with a focus on securing six-, seven-, and eight-figure gifts. Lead grateful patient fundraising strategies in partnership with faculty and clinical teams. Mentor and supervise professional staff within the Individual Giving team. Develop customized donor engagement strategies and craft persuasive proposals. Collaborate across MBSD on stewardship, communications, and campaign initiatives. Qualifications: Minimum of seven years of experience in development or a related field such as nonprofit management, sales, or marketing Proven success soliciting and closing major and planned gifts, preferably in a university or academic health setting Strong supervisory experience, including mentoring and performance management of professional staff Exceptional communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills, with a commitment to customer service Ability to travel and attend evening/weekend events; familiarity with fundraising databases and University of Chicago preferred Benefits: Salary range of $150,000-$160,000 with opportunities for professional growth and leadership within a nationally respected advancement program Hybrid work environment based in Chicago, offering flexibility alongside direct engagement with faculty, clinicians, and donors Why University of Chicago Medicine?
