Vice President, Finance

UC Davis Health (UCDH) invites nominations and applications for the role of Vice President of Finance. The Vice President of Finance (VP) reports to and advises the Chief Financial Officer of UCDH and has direct management responsibility for three departments: Decision Support Services, Budget Planning and Analysis, and Financial Forecasting and Planning.

UC Davis Health comprises the Medical Center hospital and clinics, Community Physician Group, UCDMC Medical Group, School of Medicine, and Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. As part of the University of California, Davis, UCDH generates approximately $5.6 billion of UC Davis $7.3 billion in revenue. The VP is responsible for their departments annual operating budget of $11.3 million and for developing, maintaining, and analyzing UCDHs overall budget.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate broad-based knowledge of the full range of financial issues facing academic health centers and schools of health, including financial and capital planning, funds-flow models, and reimbursement including relevant management reporting techniques. They will have a sustained record of working at a senior level in a large health system. It is preferred but not required that their experience be in an academic medical center or university-affiliated health system.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities include leadership skills to actively participate in building the vision, mission, and goals of the organization and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships at all levels within the organization. A proven track record of constructing new and innovative solutions to meet changing organizational strategies and goals and of developing and motivating managers and staff to achieve strategic objectives and maintain accountability is required. The successful candidate must be skilled in strategically and proactively creating and managing financial solutions resulting in organizational growth and success and possess the ability to quickly assess and assimilate organizational and industry financial dynamics and make appropriate decisions related to new initiatives. A masters degree in finance, accounting, business, health administration, or another related field is required.

Within UCs comprehensive salary framework, the hiring salary range for the UC Davis Health VP of Finance targets between $297,000-$427,000.Salary offers will be commensurate with the selected candidates qualifications and experience. In addition to salary, the VP of Finance participates in the UC Health performance-based incentive program and is eligible for the broad range of excellent benefits that the University provides.
