Description
The Principal Electrical Engineer is responsible for specifying, designing, integrating, and testing circuit cards and modules for DOD ground and airborne applications. As a Principal Engineer, he or she must possess an expert level of understanding and wide application of technical standards, theories, principles, and concepts in some of the discipline's domains. The candidate will contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. The successful candidate manages and mitigates technical risk on projects as required to achieve the team's objectives. Candidates must exhibit a high degree of initiative and sound judgment, working independently and as a member of the Electrical Hardware Development Team. It is essential the individual be capable of adapting to changing conditions and work cooperatively in a team environment. This role calls for someone who is accountable, self-starting, a good communicator, and raises his/her hand to help push the team forward. The position requires the candidate to specify, source, integrate, and leverage commercially available and government-sourced equipment for rapid capability prototype delivery. The position requires the candidate to synthesize & document solutions, troubleshoot electrical design and installation errors, support Root Cause Corrective Action reports to the wider product team, and support test and delivery within the bounds of a given schedule. The candidate and team will be required to integrate aircraft power, low voltage DC control signals, ethernet, digital discrete input/output, and analog signals for the functional system. The candidate shall utilize simulation tools such as SPICE to model electronics behavior and use ADS, HFSS, or other field solvers to study operating characteristics of high speed and RF systems. The candidate shall design analog circuits to meet a set of performance requirements. The candidate shall perform component selection and schematic capture. The candidate shall guide Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout of circuitry and technical drawing creation. The candidate shall utilize analysis tools like Mathcad and/or MATLAB to assess electrical design robustness of circuitry. The candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite as routine communication will occur through Teams, OneNote, Azure DevOps, Excel, and e-mail. Required Skills:
