Job Summary

Serves as a liaison between Corewell Health and the physician practices in our community. Through issue resolution, IT connectivity solutions, education and support the liaison will remove barriers and assist in activities that transform the model of care, helping providers and their staff best care for their patients. Works in a highly collaborative team environment in effort to establish, cultivate and maintain physician relationships and their partnership with Corewell Health. Executes initiatives related to increasing awareness of Spectrum Health services among internal and external providers.

This Physician Liaison Specialist will cover southern territory of Michigan which will include Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, Cass, Berrien, and Van Buren counties. This position is a hybrid position and will require approximately 60% of work time.

Essential Functions
  • Develops, organizes, directs, and promotes regional networking initiatives in the areas of specialty outreach clinics, continuing medical education programs, inservice events, activities to physicians acting as their single point of contact, developing a trust relationship to anticipate their needs, identify opportunities and solutions, and customize these solutions with appropriate matching resources.

  • Responds to issues by working collaboratively with Spectrum health executive and medical leadership.

  • Works closely with Strategic Planning and Development to review market share, patient volume, intelligence, business development, organization direction, and other research information to determine strategy, growth and development, and marketing needs.

  • Gathers continuous intelligence on the program performance, physician perception and satisfaction, industry trends, and new issue, concerns and opportunities.

  • Identifies trends, issues, and opportunities for service improvement and works effectively with multidisciplinary quality and performance improvement teams to drive change.

  • Acts as a liaison to IS, Strategic Planning & Development, Communication and Marketing, and service line leaders and Medical Directors to set appropriate priorities and to develop a strategy, business and marketing plan for service lines.

  • Executes and implements Corewell Health communications and marketing plans, including the development of materials for service lines and physicians.

  • Assesses the interest and intentions of independent physician to join the Corewell Health Medical Group.

  • Works with physician recruiters to place qualified physicians or providers in the Medical Group.

  • Collaborates with Medical Staff Affairs and physician offices to orient these new physician and providers to Spectrum Health.

  • Establishes and maintains active databases and files on each physician practice, including such data as physician preferences, suggestions, activities, issues and concerns, and key contacts.

  • Develops and runs reporting as needed.

  • Collects, enters, reviews and analyzes physician complaint data and works with service line leaders towards resolution and process improvement

  • Creates a climate of effective collaboration, communication, and cooperation among a variety of disciplines, departments, and roles.

  • Collaborates and strongly influences all levels of the organization.

  • Delivers educational content and training to referring physicians, their staff, members of the Corewell Health team, and members of the medical staff.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, healthcare or related field

  • 3 years of relevant experience such as outside healthcare sales experience or professional experience working with physicians as a consultant or educator

  • Must be able to travel 60% of work time to onsite appointments

  • Must have reliable transportation to travel

  • State of Michigan Driver's License
