About the Position The Crew Leader position is a fast-paced, team-oriented role, offering diverse tasks that challenge your skills and provide valuable learning opportunities. In this position, you will support a Field Supervisor in leading maintenance personnel through various activities, including vegetation removal, concrete repair, welding, fabricating, and general construction. These tasks focus on maintaining and improving Flood Control District dams, levees, channels, drains, basins, and structures across Maricopa County. About Us Flood Control? In a desert? Absolutely! We Require
High school diploma or GED Two years of skilled construction and maintenance work experience One year of lead or supervisory experience Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Pest Control certification (Right of Way) from the Department of Agriculture within six months of hire Specific technical training, certifications, or license endorsements may be required for some job assignments Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire This position requires a post-offer drug screen

Job Contributions
Lead work crews performing construction and maintenance activities; prioritize and assign tasks; supervise/lead the inspection, maintenance, and repair of District structures; maintain landscaping and clear brush and debris from roadways and structures Operate a variety of trucks, equipment, and hand tools in accordance with all Federal, State, County, and District safety regulations and procedures Assist Field Supervisor with planning, prioritizing, and assigning work to meet project needs and schedules, and assure completion of work orders to meet division standards; prepare daily activity and material, equipment usage, and personnel activity reports Conduct weekly meetings with the crew; monitor and promote section safety meetings; and instruct crew members in the proper use and maintenance of equipment Performs other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
This position requires the employee to be in the office/field or customer-facing for all hours worked Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noises, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. The position is subject to atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
Machines, tools, equipment, software, and hardware
This position generally conducts business out in the field utilizing various equipment and hand tools for numerous construction and maintenance duties, including shovels, rakes, pickaxes, brooms, and varying-sized electric and hand tools. Familiarization with four-wheel drive capabilities and self-recovery winching techniques will be needed from time to time
Protective equipment required
Fieldwork will often be conducted in remote locations under potentially extreme weather environments. Attire for the position will be provided and maintained by Maricopa County and has the potential for general construction and/or field inspection PPE required to perform duties daily. This includes but is not limited to safety-toe footwear, hard hats, high visibility vests, eye protection, and durable pants such as jeans
