THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is actively looking to hire a Maintenance Repairman 2 to join their team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for addressing all routine building maintenance requests that are essential for the daily upkeep of the facilities. This includes handling specialized tasks that necessitate the use of power tools and advanced craftsmanship skills. For any requests that may require an extensive amount of time or incur non-standard costs, you will be required to seek approval from your supervisor before proceeding. It is crucial to ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted efficiently and in accordance with established protocols, thereby maintaining the integrity and functionality of the building.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • The winter season will require a mid-shift schedule to accommodate welding responsibilities.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years of welding experience.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two years of experience with:
    • Using blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
    • Carpentry
    • Project cost estimating
    • Plumbing
    • General maintenance
    • Safety
    • Electrical
    • Painting
    • Drywall/plaster
    • Roofing/flooring installation
