DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for examining a variety of financial records, payroll, audit, and other documents for proprietary, quality, and conformance to established accounting procedures in addition to participating in the maintenance of the agency's financial records and assisting the County Fiscal Officer 2 with the establishment and review of internal processing procedures. Duties also involve posting data to the county's general ledger accounts from subsidiary reports and documents; preparing and reconciling incoming revenue involving cash, personal checks, and donations; and completing service delivery information in our database. You will maintain agency payroll, expenditure, and budgetary control accounts, as well as prepare, record, review, and process fiscal and accounting documents for a variety of federal, state, and county financial reports.

Your work will be essential for ensuring completeness, accuracy of information, and compliance with rules and regulations in all of our fiscal records. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Assistant; or
  • Three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices; and graduation from high school; or
  • One year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an associate degree in accounting or business administration; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Northumberland County. If no eligible candidates who live within Northumberland County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
