HIM Medical Records Manager

Brynn Marr Hospital is committed to providing the highest standard of psychiatric care to adults, adolescents, and children. Since 1983, our behavioral health therapists in Jacksonville, NC, have equipped patients with the skills they need to live happier, healthier, and more productive lives. We offer evidence-based treatment programs that address a number of issues, including grief, trauma, psychiatric disorders, and substance abuse problems.

Under the general supervision of the Director of PI and QA, establishes and maintains adequate health information systems in compliance with all applicable laws, standards and policies. These systems include forms control, chart audits, record security, the release of information process, transcription services and filing. The HIM/Medical Records Manager also supervises the staff members providing medical record coding services. The Manager is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of the Medical Records Department and ensures all medical records and related documents are easily located, appropriately filed, assembled and maintained, delivered in a timely manner and analyzed. The HIM/Medical Records Manager demonstrates the consistent ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize the "minimum necessary" rule. This position is also designated as the hospital's Privacy Officer.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Administration from an accredited school.

Experience:

RHIA or RHIT with one to three years' experience in medical records required. Hospital and supervisory experience preferred.

License/Certification:

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required.

Physical requirements:

Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job is rated light work when it requires: (1) walking or standing to a significant degree; (2) sitting most of the time while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls; or (3) working at a production rate pace while constantly pushing or pulling materials even though the weight of the materials is negligible.
