Division of Endourology

The Department of Urology at the University of California, San Francisco, is recruiting for the next Division Chief in Endourology. This position will be filled in a rank and series commensurate with experience.

Endourology Division, Department of Urology

The Endourology Division of the UCSF Department of Urology is a dynamic group of four faculty members dedicated to patient care, health equity, scholarship, and medical education.

Endourology Chief, Department of Urology

The University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Urology seeks an outstanding leader for its Division of Endourology. The Division Chief will lead the clinical, educational, and research missions for the Endourology Division. The Division Chief position represents an opportunity to shape the future of a successful and growing division. Successful candidates must demonstrate exceptional leadership, administrative and organizational skills and have national stature in academic Endourology. In coordination with the Chair, the Chief manages hiring, supervision, and mentorship of faculty and administrative staff. The Division Chief will be responsible for all clinical, administrative, financial, quality improvement, and academic oversight of the Division. The Division Chief must articulate the goals of the service, advocate for the service in pursuit of these goals, foster a professional climate that is collegial and respectful, and encourage faculty engagement and innovation. The successful candidate will oversee Graduate Medical Education and Undergraduate Medical Education activities and act as a steward for the Department's financial resources. The Division Chief will partner with other department leadership to deliver superlative care to the residents of San Francisco. The preferred candidate will have an outstanding research track record marked by innovation, scholarship, and independent grant funding.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Medical Degree.
  • California Medical Licensure - must have or be able to obtain.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Urology.
  • Completed an accredited fellowship in Endourology or is a recognized international expert in the field of Endourology.
  • Administrative and leadership experience in an academic setting, such as in a program (research or clinical), section, division, department, or research.
  • The successful candidate should have demonstrated administrative, organizational, and mentoring skills and a reputation as a leader in academic Endourology
  • Ability to define a vision and execute it; should be a visionary who sees potential and opportunity.
  • Strong leadership, as well as organizational and communication skills, are needed to effectively operate in the complex environment of an academic medical center and effectively manage conflicting agendas.
  • Distinguished record of research and clinical excellence in Endourology.
  • Experience working with and supervising residents and medical students in a clinical setting.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Quality improvement experience and training.
  • Prior experience with change management and leading administrative projects.
  • Track-record of independent grant funding.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $190,600-$405,900. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Total compensation is dependent on the final candidate's appointment series, rank, and step. Annual compensation ranges from approximately $450,000 to $650,000.
