Position Overview:

The purpose of this position is to perform basic automotive repairs and maintenance, vehicles and equipment, and minor Facility repairs at the City Services Building. The Shop/Building Attendant will be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Public Works Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent, or the Assistant Superintendent of Fleet

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic automotive and equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Assist fleet maintenance personnel and mechanics with routine and high-scope projects
  • Conduct oil and filter changes; wash and clean vehicles and equipment
  • Visually inspect vehicles nightly for repairs and maintenance needs
  • Check and address fluid levels (oil, anti-freeze, hydraulic) and tire conditions
  • Secure City Services Building, outbuildings, and vehicles nightly
  • Monitor, clean, and inspect oil drop-off centers and daily fuel system operations
  • Pick up parts and receive deliveries as needed
  • Record and document fleet mileage bi-monthly
  • Change and document tires when necessary
  • Perform janitorial tasks in shop, office, and restroom areas
  • Assist with maintenance of building mechanical systems (e.g., changing filters)
  • Communicate with supervisors, coworkers, citizens, and vendors
  • Maintain regular attendance and respond to emergency call-ins
  • Complete other Public Works and maintenance/shop tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Education: Requires a high school diploma
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of schooling and experience in automotive servicing
  • Other:* A valid Wisconsin commercial driver's license is required with minimum class B and Class N (tanker) endorsement
    • Minimum Class C Underground Storage Tank certificate within 6 months of hire

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: 49.411.50- $59,113.60 depending on experience.
    • Salary range reflects base to midpoint of the pay scale. Offers above midpoint require Council approval.
