Pay Range

$218,700 - $277,344 Annually

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. Job Description

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in supporting the world's most advanced laser facility? We are seeking a dynamic Sustainment NIF Facility Integration Manager (FIM) to join the National Ignition Facility and Photon Sciences (NIF&PS) programs. In this critical position, you will lead the schedule and technical integration of sustainment projects with the NIF Facility, ensuring that all activities are seamlessly planned, coordinated, and executed to support the mission of NIF. As the primary point of contact for sustainment integration, you will manage risks, foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, and help drive the continued success of this world-class facility. This position is in the Laser Systems Engineering & Operations (LSEO) Division within the Engineering Directorate.

In this role you will

  • Lead teams, programs, or functions with a technical focus, operate under consultative direction with substantial authority, use subject matter expertise and significant team leadership experience, and exercise judgment within established policies to monitor workflow, allocate resources, ensure timely completion of projects, independently determine strategies, and achieve objectives while managing organizational impact and pursuing actions to achieve long-term goals.
  • Manage the integration and execution of highly complex sustainment projects with NIF Facility and ensure alignment with operational needs.
  • Define, oversee, and clarify the highly complex scope for each sustainment activity, partner with NIF Facility Section Managers and other stakeholders to ensure clear objectives and deliverables, and document technical goals and operational concepts.
  • Perform risk analysis (such as FMEA) for sustainment activities and guide and implement risk mitigation efforts in collaboration with section managers.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate organizations to identify and address technical needs, develop and manage business project plans for program execution, and secure the necessary work teams and resources, including personnel and equipment for each phase of sustainment projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for sustainment integration, represent sustainment at planning and coordination meetings, and escalate gaps in planning and execution as needed.
  • Foster stakeholder engagement by conducting regular meetings with section managers, planners, and relevant project teams to clarify roles, processes, and integration requirements, while actively soliciting feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering or technical related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience and ability to lead independent work.
  • Subject matter expert knowledge in science or engineering for implementation of integrated, highly complex, and large-scale systems.
  • Significant experience in leadership and management of personnel and operations for large and highly complex technical systems operated by teams in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment, and in coordinating efforts across multiple organizations.
  • Significant experience in managing and executing integrated safety management processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to use interpersonal skills to effectively manage personnel conflicts and maintain high morale in a demanding and dynamic environment.
  • Expert verbal and written communication, facilitation, and problem solving skills necessary to effectively collaborate and lead diverse teams in a multidisciplinary environment, present and explain technical information, and provide advice to management, personnel, and stakeholders.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Master's degree in Science, Engineering, Physics, or related technical field.
  • In-depth knowledge of NIF&PS management and structures.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
