Discipline Description

Quality Assurance personnel develop policies, procedures, and methods to evaluate and improve the quality of products, materials, components and/or operations. They ensure products, services, or processes meet established quality standards and customer requirements. They develop, assure, and maintain the quality of products and processes, including standard procedures, and quality audits/reviews.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Manage a project or program that advises line and functional management on the status of a QA issues. Provide support to the Quality Services Director for overall implementation of the SRNS QA Program.

Major Responsibilities

- Directly and/or indirectly support QA missions and management objectives and ensure system integration through utilization and development of site processes, graded programmatic approaches, Diversity management, cost reduction programs, management assessments, and continuous improvement processes.
- Serve as resource to senior management for interpretation and consultation regarding quality/technical requirements.
- Establish, develop, train, and manage a highly qualified and effective staff, well versed in industry practices and the Site QA Program requirements.
- Lead and direct the site's Self Assessment, Causal Analysis, QA Training, QA Audit, QC Certification, and corrective Action programs.
- Provide Cognizant Quality Function support and guidance for Technical Quality Services, Environmental Safety & Health, Procurement & Materials Management, Information Technology, and Safeguards & Security (other organizations as appropriate).
- Provide company-level certification of SRS independent inspection personnel in mechanical, electrical, instrument and calibration, civil, and receiving inspection disciplines.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in all areas relating to quality assurance and provide site leadership and guidance for quality problem resolution.
- Provide challenging developmental opportunities for assigned employees to contribute to their personal development and the site's success.
- Manage administration of the quality organization salary planning, personnel performance reviews and career counseling for direct reports. Maintain an "open door" policy for employees to air their job, safety, quality, or security concerns, and seek or assist in their resolution before they become major issues.
- Establish and manage the resource staffing levels and duties of direct reports. Prepare budget and manpower forecasts and establish/develop appropriate quality personnel resource levels and skill mix to ensure a staff of qualified personnel capable of meeting governing requirements and providing professional quality services to functional organizations internal and external to specific organization.

* Lead the development of PPOP WQA strategic and policy documents, as well as organizational growth plans, budgets, and schedules.
* Ensure compliance of PPOP with federal requirements (e.g., NAP 401.1A), facilitating the development of a Weapon Quality Management System, defendable to both internal and external audits, ultimately enabling the manufacture of Mark Quality products for our Nation's Stockpile.
* Interface with the NNSA, SRFO, and Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) Weapon Quality community to maintain strong collaboration.
* Develop and manage PPOP WQA organizational budget forecasts and risks as part of the overall PPOP risk management program.
* Prepare, maintain, and provide inputs for all program planning documents, ensuring thorough and accurate documentation.
* Develop monthly and quarterly program briefings for internal and external management/stakeholders and track/manage PPOP WQA milestones.
* Lead PPOP WQA benchmarking efforts of other NSE weapon quality organizations.
* Collaborate with the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) Project to communicate facility requirements for ensuring product meets product definition.
* Build and maintain a competent team, crucial for achieving PPOP WQA milestones.
* Drive forward PPOP goals by building relationships, energizing, recognizing teams, and shaping the future of WQA for PPOP Mission Assurance.

Required Qualifications

* Eight or more years of experience (YOE) as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus five or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus three or more year of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

* Management experience in Nuclear Deterrence Systems
* Experience with weapon development and qualification activities with internal and/or external customers and stakeholders.
* Experience in Nuclear Deterrence Systems and/or Components.
* Experience in systems/component analysis, product design/development/production, stockpile evaluation, experimental and/or modeling & simulation, materials analysis, or other related areas.
* Proven success in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and leading technical staff.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver results and effectively lead/guide multidisciplinary teams engaged in innovative work.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
