Job Description

This is a remote, Monday-Friday, Sales Development Representative position.



3 Shift Options:
Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

This position will report to our Sales Development Supervisor who will do everything in her power to help you succeed.



The Sales Development Representative is responsible for generating and qualifying leads through cold calling, managing leads by tracking and following up on them, conducting sales presentations and product demos via the phone and internet, closing sales and meeting monthly sales goals in accordance with development plan, producing activity reports, working with affiliate sales to cross generate leads, and traveling to National Sales meetings for training as applicable



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Contact business, industries, government or private individuals by telephone to solicit sales for goods or services and/or to obtain referrals for prospective.
  2. Explain products or services and prices and answer questions for customers.
  3. Obtain customer information such as name, address, and payment method and enter orders into computer.
  4. Record name, address purchases, and reactions of prospects contacted.
  5. Adjust sales scripts to better target the needs and interests of specific individuals.
  6. Obtain name and telephone numbers of potential customers from sources such as utility directories, internet, regulatory agencies, industry lists and lists purchased from other organizations.
  7. Answer telephone calls from potential customers who have been solicited through the company or other means.
  8. Telephone/write letters/prepare mailers/prepare quotations to respond in a timely manner to correspondence from customers or to follow up initial sales contacts.
  9. Schedule appointments for sales representatives to meet with prospective customers or for customers to attend sales presentations; candidate may occasionally be asked to support / attend / make sales presentations directly to prospective clients.
  10. Maintain records of all the job functions listed above, contacts, accounts, and orders in Salesforce
  11. Conduct client or market surveys to obtain information about potential customers.
  12. Deliver prepared sales talks, reading from scripts that describe products or services, to persuade potential customers to purchase a product or service.

  1. Education and/or Experience - Minimum 1-year tele-sales/sales calling experience. 2 years of college or equivalent amount of selling/marketing experience desired. Experience in the environmental, laboratory or utility industries a plus. Individuals must possess strong communication skills, sales and goal oriented, professional, ability to work individually and as a part of a team.
  2. Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  3. Work Environment - While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to long hours sitting at the computer. An ability to sit and/or stand at a computer for 8 hours plus is mandatory to fulfill responsibilities of an SDR.
  4. Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. An ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public both verbally and in writing.
  5. Mathematical Skills - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  6. Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  7. Computer Skills - Must be proficient in all MS Outlook and Microsoft Office applications to include PowerPoint presentations; mail merge using MS Word; letters and documents using MS Word; Excel spreadsheets, graphs calculations, tabulations; multiple MSOffice functions; Internet research and networking capabilities.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:


Work is done remotely in a secure in-home office setting. Work is subject to travel for training and/or conferences on rare occasions.
