Summary: Reports to Director, Retail Pharmacy Services. Under the supervision of the Director, Retail Services serves as a liaison to and collaborates with the various Managers and Pharmacists-in-Charge to triage a variety of logistical, technical, and supportive tasks to assist the retail pharmacy business operations team. Researches and responds to a variety of functions including, but not limited to, prescription notifications, metrics reporting, audit readiness, and policy and procedure updates. Serves as the point person for inquiries from the pharmacy business operations team relating to purchasing invoices and patient billing and payments. Protects and maintains patient/customer confidentiality while collecting patient/customer personal information as necessary for prescription reviews, insurance payors, and or regulatory agencies. Responsibilities: Responds to autogenerated "Rx notifications" as assigned. Prepares month-end inventory reports for the Pharmacy Business Operations team and Brown University Health Finance Department. Researches patient invoice inquiries and provides relevant and salient information. Performs periodic audits of Brown University Health Pharmacy patient profiles to ensure appropriate prescription entry and processing. Ensures a state of readiness and assists Managers and Pharmacists-in-Charge with responses to audits performed by insurance payors, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies; assists with Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) audits as needed. Monitors pharmacy-based patient management programs and lists for patient mismatches and/or duplication and resolves as appropriate. Audits said programs for data entry integrity. Assists Managers and Pharmacists-in-Charge in the preparation of quarterly reports and business review presentations for payors, manufacturers or other entities as assigned. Performs periodic rebilling of prescriptions to add information such as 340B flags and/or correct systemic billing issues. Assists and responds to vendor issues, including, but not limited to, those from RMS, Trust Commerce (i.e., credit cards), Elavon, FF54, Parata, and Payware. Serves as the point person for all "Rx Issue" inquiries received from the pharmacy business operation team including cash handling questions, credit card discrepancies, prescription days' supply on hand investigations, prescription summary report requests, insurance rebilling questions, dispense as written (DAW) edits, refund inquiries, requests to mail out letters, point of sale inquiries, and bill updates from mailed checks. Participates in annual inventory. Demonstrates a strong customer service presence and verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively interact with internal and external customers. Protects and maintains patient/customer confidentiality while collecting patient/customer personal information as necessary for prescription reviews, insurance payors, and or regulatory agencies. Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Other information: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: High school graduate or equivalent required. Completion of one to two years of college preferred. Holds and maintains current unrestricted Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician II licensure and current National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT). EXPERIENCE: Three years progressively more responsible related work experience as a pharmacy technician or technician specialist preferably gained within a Brown University Health retail pharmacy. Work is exacting and requires the ability to maintain attention to detail in a high-paced environment to avoid errors in documentation and payment transactions. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Must possess solid computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, as well as email and calendar applications. Must be comfortable in using internet web applications and multiple pharmacy system applications. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work may require extended periods of time spent sitting. Requires the visual and manual dexterity to operate a computer. May require occasional travel between affiliates and sites.
INDEPENDENT ACTION: Performs independently within department policies and procedures. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
