Job Title: Training Instructor - Electrical
Location:
Pascagoula, MS

General Function:

The Training Instructor - Electrical is responsible for mentoring and training employees to ensure a smooth and effective transition into the work environment. The role focuses on developing and delivering technical instruction both in the classroom and on job sites, enhancing the electrical skills of the workforce and adding measurable value to operations.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement instructional programs tailored to specified training needs using methods such as:
    • One-on-one training
    • Group instruction
    • Practical demonstrations
    • Workshops (classroom & field-based)
  • Develop and execute a robust electrical testing program for evaluating skill levels of new hires for the following roles:
    • Electrician A, B, C
    • Electrical Specialist
      Testing to cover electrical installation, troubleshooting, and system testing in marine shipbuilding, including LNG-powered vessels and offshore drilling vessels.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing electrical training courses for current employees to meet evolving project requirements and skill upgrades.
  • Collaborate with supervision and department leads to identify operational gaps and develop targeted training addressing:
    • Policy changes
    • Procedure upgrades
    • Regulatory requirements
    • Technology shifts

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of Marine Shipbuilding, including:
    • LNG-powered vessels
    • Offshore drilling vessel construction
  • Ability to accurately maintain data systems for tracking trainee progress and program status
  • Mil-Spec experience as the PSC will be built to Mil-Spec requirements.
  • Skilled in reading:
    • Engineering drawings
    • Blueprints
    • Technical specifications
  • Effective interpersonal skills for collaboration across teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite:
    • Word
    • Excel
    • Access
    • Outlook
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and codes from:
    • DNV
    • ABS
    • US Coast Guard
    • API/MODU
    • NEC
    • IEEE
    • IEC

Experience & Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
    • Additional coursework in production management preferred
  • Formal education or certifications such as:
    • Electrical apprenticeship programs
    • Vocational or trade school certificates
    • Commercial/industrial wiring training
  • Minimum 10 years of field electrical experience
  • Preferred specialized knowledge:
    • High voltage cable splicing and stress cone applications
    • ATEX Ex (COMPEX) training
