The Ambulatory Infusion Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for the preparation, distribution, and control of sterile injectable medications. Roles and responsibilities include chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy sterile compounding, record keeping (refrigerator temperature logs and hood cleaning), drug distribution and maintaining inventory. All duties are performed independently by the technician under the supervision of a Pharmacist.

Schedule: Varied hours, depending on department needs, including weekends and holidays

Hourly Salary Range: $27.88 - 40.04 (Union represented, step based salary depending on years of experience)

Bargaining Unit: EX - AFSCME

Pharmacy Technician I (9283): Less than 2 years of experience

Pharmacy Technician II (9282): Equal to or more than 2 years of experience

Qualifications

We are seeking a dedicated clinical professional with:

  • CA Pharmacy Technician license - required
  • Ability to compound chemotherapy utilizing departmental guidelines for the preparation/distribution of cytotoxic agents- required
  • At least 1 year of IV sterile compounding pharmacy experience- required
  • Skill in preparing intravenous solutions using aseptic technique.
  • Ability to accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Ability to work independently and follow-through on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Skill in computer order entry of medication orders as well as other related computer entry tasks and computer report generation.
  • Telephone and verbal skills required to communicate clearly and effectively with pharmacists, nurses, physicians and other health professionals.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs and push 50 lbs
  • Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices
