We are looking for an IT Field Support Officer - Americas who will play a crucial role in providing advice and operational support to solutions provided by group IT within Rio Tinto. This role contributes to the management and alignment of customer expectations against IS&T priorities to ensure seamless operational performance This role will provide day-to-day management and support of IS&T for RTX Technical Applications and infrastructure to RTX employees in both office and remote location. Reporting to the Superintendent - Operational Support, you will be
- Overseeing End-to-End Technical Support: Delivering responsive, hands-on support for RTX systems, applications, and infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations across diverse environments.
- Ensuring all on-premises IT equipment-whether in office hubs or remote field locations-is configured, maintained, and optimised for performance, security, and compliance.
- Acting as the primary liaison with external service providers and internal stakeholders to scope, implement, and support new or modified location requirements.
- Maintaining accurate inventories of hardware and software assets, ensuring alignment with IS&T standards and lifecycle management practices.
- Supporting critical infrastructure and applications that underpin RTX's technical operations, reducing downtime and enabling safe, efficient field execution.
- Capturing and maintaining technical documentation to support continuity, onboarding, and future scalability of IS&T services.
What you'll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A strong safety mindset
- 5-7 years of experience working on an Operations team
- Bachelor's Degree in IT or related field
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- A successful track record of vendor and contract management
- Proven track record of providing excellent customer service.
- A broad understanding of IT equipment and systems
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Willingness and ability to travel to remote exploration sites, both domestically and internationally 2-3 times per year.
- Spanish language proficiency is considered an asset.
