Position Summary |
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide career coaching services (80%):
- Assist students and alumni with a variety of career development needs including career decision-making, selecting a major, self-awareness activities, job-search documents (resume/CV, cover letter, personal statement), and job/internship-search strategies
- Coach and advise students and alumni on career development content through individual appointments and classroom presentations
- Advise students about their option to benefit from self-reflection activities led by a Career Coach, allowing individuals to better understand and uncover their strengths, interests, values, personality preferences, and unique characteristics
- Schedule career coaching appointment availability in 12Twenty (Bulldog NetWORK) and record notes and observations for each completed coaching appointment
- Develop knowledge around current hiring practices in a variety of industries
Contribute to event planning (15%):
- As needed, and after training, support event planning in the Career Center which may include: career fairs, programs, networking events, etc.
Additional duties/projects as assigned (5%):
- Complete onboarding orientation with Associate Director for Career Education and continuously engage in various education and learning opportunities throughout the course of the internship
- Meet regularly with Associate Director for Career Education, Director, and Career Center staff to discuss events, programming, best practices, and questions or issues that may arise during career coaching appointments and/or classroom presentations
- Support in the creation and maintenance of Career Center resources and guides.
The Part-time career coach reports to Lauren DeHaan, Associate Director of Career Education and is compensated at $20/hour and hired as a temporary employee, subject to a background check. .

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills |
Ability to establish rapport and relate well to students, alumni, and staff. Effective communication with strong written, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Organizational, detail-oriented, and problem solving skills. Will have a professional demeanor, be reliable and dependable, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and show the ability to take initiative and work independently. Must have availability for 20/hours a week and schedule must be within normal office hours (M-F 9:00am-5:00pm). |

Prior experience working with college students is preferred.
