Summary: The Technical Instructor IV will serve as a Physician Assistant (PA) Professor in support of the Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP) at the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE). This position involves delivering graduate-level instruction, supporting curriculum development, and providing academic and clinical mentorship for PA students across various Army medical training programs.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Instruct up to 93 didactic semester hours covering:
Human anatomy & physiology, pharmacology, clinical medicine, diagnostics, patient care, PA professional issues
Conduct classroom, lab, simulation, and clinical training Develop and revise curriculum content, lesson plans, visual aids, exams, and facilitator/student guides Perform student assessments, maintain test databanks, and analyze exam results Provide academic counseling and manage Phase 2 student training activities Participate in course administration, training logistics, and lab setup Support SME roles in instructional design, CBT/WBT development, and technical reviews Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge and practices aligned with military and civilian PA standards Ensure accreditation compliance with ARC-PA and PAEA standards
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies Current NCCPA certification and active licensure 10+ years of clinical PA experience 10+ years of teaching, mentoring, or precepting experience Completion of Army instructor certifications (e.g., CFD-IC, METC Instructor Orientation) Physically fit to meet performance standards equivalent to PA students
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Physician Assistant Studies Background in Special Operations Forces (SOF) or critical care Experience teaching Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) Previous instructor experience or TCMC course graduate Prior service in CENTCOM/AFRICOM or military medical roles (24 months minimum)
