The Corporate Information Services Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Sr. Application Analyst - IS Clinical Systems.

The Sr. Application Analyst - IS Clinical Systems performs advanced implementation activities related to UHS Information applications, including coordination of Implementation Planning, Design, Testing, Training, Go-live and Support activities across all UHS owned facilities. Performs hands on application configuration and related testing. Participates in monitoring facility issues post go-live and maintains responsibility for their resolution. Coordinates work assignments between team members in order to meet deadlines and ensure continued progress toward assignment completion.

Key Responsibilities include:

System Implementation:

  • Regularly meets with users, vendors, and IS staff to develop/modify system specifications.
  • Provides advanced design solutions for applications and prepares the appropriate documentation.
  • Supervises development of test data, system testing and documentation for all phases of the application development life cycle.
  • Performs Q/A on application functionality.
  • Researches and resolves implementation-related Customer Support Center Tickets.
  • Adheres to appropriate UHS Project Management standards.
  • Ensures strict adherence to work plans, reporting all serious deviations to management.
  • Oversees the training of users in operating procedures for application.
  • Provides support and project direction to UHS entities as needed.
  • Provides on call after hours support as required.
  • Recommends and implements controls and procedures to protect UHS assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure or destruction.

System Maintenance & Support:

  • Researches and resolves Customer Support Center Tickets including major application upgrades.
  • Adheres to UHS Service Level and Change Management Policies.
  • Provides on-call support as scheduled.
  • Establishes and maintains regular communications with user community.

Administration & Oversight:

  • Effectively trains analysts in performance of their duties as required.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to other team members as required.
  • Maintains Service Excellence principles.
  • Prepares and promptly submits all routine and special reports.
  • Interviews applicants for vacant positions as needed using appropriate interview techniques.
  • Contributes to performance evaluation of less experienced staff members as needed.
  • Keeps management well informed of activities, needs, problems.
  • Performs other tasks as required by management.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of Information Systems experience in acute care, multi-facility setting is required.
  • Working knowledge of information system application design, development, implementation, enhancement, support methods and practices.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of clinical application analysis, design, build, deployment and modification as well as troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to work with end users to determine software specifications, hardware requirements, and process improvement workflows.
  • Ability to create system documentation, project plans, test scripts and education materials.
  • Working knowledge of project management methodology and IS standards, change control, quality, and system performance methods and metrics.
  • General familiarity of end user business practices, concepts, and terminology sufficient to support the clinical applications.
  • Ability to transfer knowledge and mentor team members.
  • Working knowledge of project management methods.
  • A good working knowledge of Patient Accounting and Revenue Cycle experience with CMS billing and reimbursement guidelines, CPT codes, qualifiers and venue-specific code appropriateness.
  • Understands reimbursement methodologies for acute care facilities and physician offices.
  • Preferred experience with Cerner Patient Accounting, Soarian Financial systems or other Revenue Cycle applications.
  • General familiarity of user business practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

License or Registration Requirements: Healthcare and Application Knowledge Required. Registered Nurse or Clinical Experience Preferred. Project Management experience preferred.

Travel Requirements: Up to 25%, at times may be more, domestic US travel (depending on projects).
