Senior Director, Oncology Contracting and Client Strategy

Summary:

In this role, you are responsible for developing and managing strategic partnerships, ensuring alignment with the company's sales, revenue, and business objectives for the Vizient Oncology Network. You will cultivate high-impact relationships with oncology pharmaceutical manufacturers and health system stakeholders, lead negotiations for oncology-related product agreements, and collaborate with clients to drive adoption, compliance, and contract performance in support of clinical, operational, and financial goals. Success in this role requires deep expertise in supply chain, GPO contracting, health system or ambulatory pharmacy, and business development or account management within the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or medical device sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead contracting discussions with oncology pharmaceutical manufacturers to secure access, favorable terms, and sustainable pricing.

  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and clinical teams to develop contract language aligned with GPO terms and client expectations.

  • Drive effective contract implementation by engaging stakeholders to promote compliance and deliver measurable clinical and financial value.

  • Serve as a strategic liaison between Vizient and participating health systems, ensuring alignment on contract terms and utilization.

  • Develop and execute strategies to increase client adoption of oncology contract portfolios using clinical, operational, and financial levers.

  • Monitor client adherence to contract requirements, providing insights and support to optimize compliance and performance.

  • Support onboarding and sustained adoption by contributing to the development of tools, clinical education, and operational workflows.

  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments to inform contracting and network strategies.

  • Deliver data-driven insights and recommendations to enhance contract effectiveness and strategic planning.

  • Represent Vizient at industry events to strengthen partnerships and identify new business opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred (PharmD, RPh, or MBA) with strong knowledge of oncology therapeutic landscape and healthcare market dynamics.

  • 10 or more years of relevant experience required; preferably in channel sales, business development, or strategic partnerships within the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or medical device industries.

  • Proven success in client-facing roles focused on business development, sales, or program management, with a strong ability to build and manage strategic relationships.

  • Deep understanding of GPO operations, contract structures, and pharmaceutical pricing models, with a demonstrated ability to drive savings and revenue through innovative contracting strategies.

  • Skilled in negotiation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration with teams across sales, marketing, finance, and operations.

  • Strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to interpret complex data, generate insights, and present clear, strategic recommendations.

  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • The role is hybrid, with three days per week in the office.

  • Willingness to travel.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $156,500.00 to $290,100.00.

This position is also incentive eligible.
