JOB TITLE: Assistant Professor, Mathematics Education Outreach JOB PURPOSE: The University of Wyoming's College of Education and the Science and Mathematics Teaching Center (SMTC) invite applications from dynamic, qualified candidates with a strong background in and commitment to K-12 mathematics education and outreach. The role emphasizes collaboration with rural Wyoming schools and leading mathematics-focused professional development for in-service K-12 teachers across the state. In addition, the successful candidate will work with SMTC colleagues to support graduate programs through teaching and advising. They will also be expected to engage in academic research and scholarship aligned with the SMTC's mission and vision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary responsibility of this position is to lead teacher professional development and outreach initiatives in K-12 mathematics education across Wyoming. This includes collaborating with SMTC faculty and staff to provide curriculum consultation, as well as planning, delivering, assessing, and reporting on professional development efforts for the K-12 community. In addition to outreach, SMTC faculty contribute to the center's graduate programs through teaching and advising. The successful candidate will teach three courses per academic year-one each in fall, spring, and during the SMTC's summer graduate session in June. All University of Wyoming faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to innovative, evidence-based instructional practices that support student learning. Advising responsibilities include serving on graduate committees, responding to student inquiries, and participating in the ongoing development, assessment, and refinement of graduate programs. Finally, the candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda that includes securing external funding, publishing scholarship aligned with the SMTC's integrated focus on teaching and outreach, and contributing to the University's overall research productivity in support of its R1 mission.
