JOB TITLE: Supv Fuel REQUISITION: FOS00FW DEPARTMENT: Generation - Jeffrey Energy Center LOCATION: St. Marys, KS PAY RANGE: $91,600 - $122,100 Scheduled Work Hours: Sunday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Saturday, 0530-1630. Evergy's largest generating facility, Jeffrey Energy Center, is actively searching for a multi-faceted and motivated leader to become a member of our team as a Fuel Supervisor. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities may include: Fuel Supervisor is responsible for leading Jeffrey Energy Center Fuel Crew, Building and Grounds employees and assigned contractors in the operation and maintenance of fixed and mobile coal handling equipment with an emphasis on safety, reliability, efficiency, cost management and environmental stewardship. Specific duties include: * Lead and guide the development of individual team members for optimum performance. * Regularly coach, counsel, advise and evaluate the performance of crew members and maintain appropriate documentation. * Develop, maintain and enforce operational and safety procedures and policies * Provide continued training for employees in existing and new technology, standards and procedures that ensure a safe and effective workforce. * Ensure quality execution of pre-job briefings, lock out tag out, procedural compliance, and shift turnovers. * Ensure standards for safety, quality and productivity are met through established policies and procedures. * Provide daily observation, instruction, improvement and re-enforcement of crew member knowledge and skills. * Ensure work documentation is accurate, complete, and entered into the Work and Asset Management System in a timely manner. * Maintain ownership and responsibility for all coal and limestone handling resources to include trains, trucks, unloading equipment, material belt & conveyor systems, stacking or reclaiming equipment, dust collection equipment, mobile heavy equipment and all safety systems associated with this equipment. * Collaborate with Maintenance Planning to ensure proper prioritization of equipment repair and coordination of those repair efforts. * Communicate information up, down and across the organization. * Fully support and actively participate in efforts to improve equipment reliability and performance including Reliability Centered Maintenance studies, equipment testing and inspection, and root cause analysis. * Manage O&M spend through the management of overtime, shift schedules, equipment inspections, repairs, and fuel yard performance. * Develop productive working relationships with external vendors (parts, materials, & equipment), business partners (railroads, trucking companies, & OEM's), and internal customers (corporate fuels department, engineering, operations & environmental services).
Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience in operating or maintaining industrial plant equipment, with coal handling equipment experience preferred, or a bachelor's degree in engineering and two years of directly related experience. Previous leadership experience a plus. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required: * Strong knowledge of OSHA and industrial safety standards. Must have the ability to effectively teach Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Job Briefings, and Safety Observations. * Must have the skills, personality, and ambition to be a leader in a changing and evolving culture. * Maintain a positive self-image, respond assertively, defend company viewpoints & policy, accept constructive criticism, and demonstrate honesty and trustworthiness. * Ability to respond appropriately to others, take active interest in and willingly help others and modify behavior to build a team culture. * Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Basic computer skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees. * Ability to coach, counsel, motivate, engage, hold accountable, handle conflict, and remain calm in high stress situations. * Must be highly organized and able to create detailed reports. * Ability to analyze situations and information, consider the risks & implications, and implement a plan of action. * Ability to handle multiple priorities, make decisions with limited time and data, and process information in an orderly, accurate and timely manner. * Experience with collective bargaining agreements preferred. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required: Successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Working Conditions: Must have the ability to perform the physical activities of the job. Requires extensive onsite plant work with some office work. The position requires the ability to work outdoors and in an industrial plant environment including, but not limited to, exposure to ambient temperature extremes, dusty/moist environments, climbing ladders and stairways, working at heights on elevated structures and platforms, and working in cramped spaces occasionally which may require bending, stooping, and standing. The position will also require some work beyond normal working hours as workload and emergency response warrants. Must have satisfactory work record including good attendance.
