Construction Loan Specialist

The Opportunity *This is a fully remote opportunity*

The Construction Loan Specialist acts as liaison between borrower, general contractors, architects, government agencies, title companies, trustees, and other exterior contact, if applicable. Interacts closing with Servicing and Corporate accounting functional business units and Mortgage Banking personnel. Addresses and responds to all questions and inquiries from borrowers including, but not limited to, draw requisitions, full processing of change orders, permission to occupy, billing and payment remittance processes, reserve requests, taxes, insurance, escrow analysis (working capital and initial operating deficits), late charges, extension fees, MIP, LoanView, lender consent requests and loan trigger events.



  • Coordinate, monitor and administer all phases of the servicing activity for all FHA Construction Loans for multifamily, healthcare and hospital
  • Work closely with borrowers, contractors, architect, title companies, HUD and Mortgage Bankers on day-to-day processes, responding to all inquiries in a timely manner and to resolve issues, when applicable
  • Review FHA Forms and supporting documentation for accuracy prior to the submission to the individual FHA Offices for subsequent review and approval. Processes include, but are not limited to, construction draws, change orders, change order releases, permissions to occupy, and reserve releases
  • Monitor and maintain concise, up-to-date status and critical date reports including, but not limited to, taxes, insurance, loan status, completion dates, extension fees, permission to occupy, change orders
  • Maintain and produce monthly accounting reports with regard to income and expenses generated for the department on a loan level basis
  • Generate monthly billing statements, following through with the collection and posting of payments, including by not limited to, interest, principal, taxes, insurance, MIP, replacement reserves, extension fees, late charges
  • Prepare funding documentation for various warehouse lines
  • Prepare securitization documentation for the issuance of the GNMA Security
  • Works with management on appropriate responses and decisions regarding risk assessment of loans including comprehensive reviews of construction draw requests, potential loan servicing transfers, loan documents and servicing agreement requirements
  • Works with all applicable functional business units to ensure compliance with loan document requirements and borrower requests on all systems
  • Performs other work-related duties, as assigned.


What you will need to be successful



  • Advanced proficiency in computer applications using word, data processing and spreadsheets
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented and process oriented.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a larger team with a demonstrated flexible attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires initiative, accuracy, diplomacy, and professional conduct
  • Bachelor's Level Degree or relevant work experience preferred
  • 3 or more years' experience in Commercial Real Estate preferred.
