The Project Design Lead will be responsible for chief responsibilities including but not limited to the selection of interior finishes as well as furniture selections for all active store planning and construction projects. The role will also oversee the Neiman Marcus Group in-store art program as well as conceptual design capabilities for ideating and developing special design projects with close partnership with the Vice President, Store Planning & Construction. *Position is based in Dallas TX with fully remote possibility for NYC Metro, Charlotte NC, Miami FL, and greater TX.

Responsibilities & Duties



  • Project Specific:

    • Responsible for the selection and presentation of furniture, fabrics, and equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and specialty lighting fixtures/elements of all active projects.
    • Supports the space planning, schematic design, and design development efforts of projects as assigned.
    • Generates finish plans, product specifications, and material selections needed for projects as assigned.
    • Provides design support and documentation during completion and execution of special projects/ / new in-store design concepts.
    • Creates design interpretation packages for hand-off to internal Production team.
    • Coordinates plan check process for incorporating team comments as needed.
    • Ensures internal documents are assembled by external Architect of Record (AOR) into an Out to Bid (OTB) set.




  • General:

    • Provides timely communication with internal management, merchant teams, consultants and external consultants.
    • Monitors and facilitates completion of projects on a timely basis and within budget.
    • Creates and maintains any/all project work-back schedule timelines to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
    • Attends project development meetings, site meetings, and provides written reports.
    • Oversees the work of SPC Production Coordinators related to the final documentation of their designs to ensure faithful representation of the creative concept.





Qualifications



  • 5-8 years post degree
  • Bachelors degree in either Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited program
  • Knowledge of merchandise fixture design, with a general understanding of construction detailing a plus
  • Strong experience in selection of furniture, finishes, materials & color selections, appropriateness for use, and development of specifications
  • Solid space planning/merchandising skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Well-developed communication skills both written and verbal including strong group presentation skills
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office programs, Bluebeam Revu, and AutoCAD (or similar CAD program)
  • Must have well developed skills in expressing design ideas visually, whether by hand or utilizing a 3D computer program (sketch up or similar)
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc to facilitate communication of conceptual design ideas to executive team
  • Ability to execute assigned tasks with limited supervision
  • Ability to be part of a team or lead a team effort as required
  • Position is based in Dallas TX with fully remote possibility for NYC Metro, Charlotte NC, Miami FL, and greater TX
  • Periodic site travel required (10%)
