Who you are:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Required: 5+ years of risk related experience in a financial institution
  • Preferred: Enterprise Risk Management designation
  • In-depth understanding of the field's concepts and principles surrounding risk
  • Prior experience with risk software or risk tracking. SRA Watchtower a plus
  • Strong analytical skills a must for analysis of large collection of data, creating reports and determining results
  • Ability to foster teamwork and build collaborative relationships
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Works well independently
  • Preferred management experience

What you'll do:

This position is responsible for identifying and evaluating potential risks associated with business units, products or product lines, or programs. The Enterprise Risk Specialist seeks to mitigate liability associated with those risks by proposing and implementing risk reduction strategies, or by insuring the organization against loss. Manages activities within the organization's risk management department meant to reduce organizational risk and legal liability.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for risk identification, assessment, and mitigation
  • Establishes acceptable risk tolerances for business units, products or product lines, or programs
  • Quantifies potential risks and seeks to limit liability or exposure through the implementation of risk reduction strategies or by insuring the organization against loss
  • Performs quantitative analysis and modeling to evaluate exposure due to catastrophic risk
  • Implements loss prevention strategies meant to protect the organization's assets
  • Assists in the selection and negotiation of insurance policies and associated coverage
  • Participates in the claim review or inquiry process
  • Responsible for selection of third-party risk models or creation of internal models; validates model accuracy based on historical loss data
  • Prepares and delivers reports to management teams detailing risks facing the organization, quantifying historical and projected future losses, and describing risk reduction strategies
  • Performs complex tasks and has some latitude for determining appropriate processes to follow
  • May leads and directs the work of other employees
  • Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies
  • Implements and maintains the organization's risk management information system
