Job Description:

Lead Analyst, Treasury Accounting

SVB Financial Group is a diversified financial services company as well as a bank holding company. Primary Responsibilities:

As part of the Treasury Controller team, theLead Analyst, Treasury Accountingwill be responsible for performing accounting tasks for the corporate close and consolidations controllership function.

The key responsibilities of the role will include recording/reviewing journal entries, reconciliation governance/oversight, monitoring activities over the consolidated financial statements, performing analytical procedures, supporting reporting activities to senior accounting leadership, and managing ad hoc projects relating to the close and consolidations process. The applicant will also be required to maintain strong internal controls, including ownership of key SOX controls, within a constantly growing and changing business. The applicant will also be expected to effectively collaborate with other partners within finance, as well as other members of the businesses. The essential functions to be performed by the applicant include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist controllership team with monthly close activities relating to the FX, Derivative, and Low Income Housing Tax Credit portfolios, including account reconciliation, recording journal entries, and analytical review to ensure accuracy of the financial statements.
  • Work with Off- Shore team to coordinate recording of journal entries and account reconciliations related to FX and Derivatives portfolio.
  • Assist controllership team to prepare monthly close package, perform detailed variance analysis on the financials, and research and investigate significant fluctuations in the financials
  • Provide key management reports to executive leadership with quick turnaround, without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Address requests that arise for compliance and audit functions (SOX, internal Audit, annual external audit, etc.)
  • Assist with documentation of new accounting policies and documentation of significant, nonroutine transactions or new product implementations.
  • Ensure proper financial management controls and governance are embedded across the
  • business.
  • Participate in special projects. Performs other specific duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by the Controllership team.
  • Identify and implement controls and process improvements
  • Understand and analyze data flows through various upstream and downstream systems
  • Performs other specific duties and responsibilities and special projects as required or assigned by management. This includes resolving issues as they arise across systems or operational processes.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • Minimum 3+ years' relevant experience required with public accounting firm and/or industry experience, with financial services industry preferred
  • Must be a team player with strong work ethics, good analytical skills, and professional skepticism
  • Internal control experience is required
  • Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or advanced degree in Accounting strongly preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and efficiently on concurrent complex issues and pay consistent attention to detail in all matters
  • Able to work effectively with other functional teams outside accounting.
  • Ability to adapt to and embrace change in a large and rapidly growing company
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
  • Individual should be familiar with all areas related to financial reporting as well as accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Conceptual understanding of a risk-based audit approach

Base Pay:

$82,016.00 - $111,407.00

Actual starting base pay will be determined on skills, experience, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other perks, as outlined in any formal offer made.
