Overview

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a membership organization dedicated to the advancement of women's health care in Washington, DC, is currently seeking a Director of Clinical Guidance - Obstetrics.

The Director of Clinical Guidance - Obstetrics will direct the full range of services and programming of clinical guidance related to obstetrics. Direct operational matters to ensure effective achievement of objectives. Assist in department budgetary allocation planning. Direct the activities of interdisciplinary collaboration. Interacts and collaborates with senior leaders, executives, and internal and external stakeholders. Serve as the first-line staff to respond to emerging clinical topics related to obstetrics. Supervise staff and provide leader oversight.

Responsibilities

    Serve as primary staff for all Clinical Consensus - Obstetrics committee activities and decisions. Interpret Committee views and actions to those making inquiries or internal ACOG staff.
  • Direct development of Clinical Consensus guidance documents and Practice Advisories, including oversight of Committee functions, adherence to document development methodology, internal document review and approval, and publication.
  • Coordinate the routine review and update of existing portfolio of obstetric-related content. Ensure alignment among obstetric-related clinical guidance.
  • Manage, develop, and implement special projects and initiatives related to obstetric topics in alignment with ACOG and division goals.
  • Manage committee reporting, budgets, committee nominations and selection, and general orientation.
  • Oversee clinical content and products derived from Clinical Consensus documents, in coordination with relevant staff.
  • Prepare committee members and Fellows representing ACOG in liaison activities to represent ACOG's views/content at relevant meetings.
  • Review and respond to internal and external requests for interpretation or clarification of Clinical Consensus-related content.
  • Supervise and manage assigned staff. Provide guidance, mentoring, and leadership in an inclusive environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in public health or health-related field required; Master's in public health or health-related field preferred.
  • A minimum of-10 years of experience in project management and guidance development-related work, including strong understanding of methodology requirements. Grant writing and funding proposals experience preferred. Minimum of three to five years of supervisory experience.
  • Medical association experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of routine obstetric care and other aspects of pregnancy care.
  • The position requires superior communication skills; understanding of elements of guidance methodology; editing skills; ability to assimilate technical issues into accurate reports and responses; a proper balance of assertiveness, diplomacy and discretion; ability to interact with a variety of people and institutions; skills in managing a diverse and heavy work load; self-direction; computer literacy.
