The Senior Technical Illustrator will develop technical illustrations in the form of line art, renderings, images for customers, hardcopy and electronic technical publications (Repair Parts and Special Tools List - RPSTL) and Interactive Technical Manuals - IETM. This role will read and interpret engineering drawings with CAD models and prepare exploded views of equipment to be converted into line art/images which are to be used in parts breakdowns and disassembly/assembly instructions.

Please note: this is a traditional, onsite position.

YOUR IMPACT:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Create detailed parts breakdown illustrations and disassembly/assembly illustrations using Adobe Illustrator and based on exploded CAD models from Inventor.
  • Explode isometric and orthographic views into exported Adobe Illustrator software from CAD programs (Inventor).
  • Prepare work for sub-contractors, ensure work is kept to budget, schedule, style, quality, and accurately handled and stored.
  • Track projects and time cycles of illustration data.
  • Develop process documentation and improve current processes as needed.
  • Read and interpret 2D engineering drawings and associate with Bill of Materials into RPSTL illustration with associated data.
  • Decipher complex mechanical and technical data and convert into visual information.
  • Review and complete quality checks among peers' illustrations as well as ensure proper storage of illustration data.
  • Collaborate and negotiate with other process areas to meet scheduled deliveries.
  • Candidates will be required to work directly with end users in developing operator instructions for various equipment types. This may require occasional travel.
  • Candidates may be required to take additional training relating to manual development and technical writing to ensure documentation reflects industry standards.

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE

  • Associate's degree in Graphic Arts, Technical Communications, or a related field.
  • Six (6) or more years of experience in the field or a related area.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with CAD, Illustration, or Graphics artwork.
  • Experience with Adobe In Design.
  • Mechanical and spatial aptitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen sense of page/document layout.
  • Ability to apply appropriate industry Standards and Specifications (including Military Standards/Specifications) relating to construction or similar type equipment with an understanding of the primary user of the information.
  • Experience with Photoshop and Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience and proficiency with various web-based software applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
*Experience creating Parts Manuals, Safety/Operator's Manuals, Service/Maintenance manuals and Technical bulletins
