Protective Life is looking for a Business Systems Analyst for the Annuity Systems Team. This position requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with proper prioritization of multiple assignments, while maintaining a sense of urgency to meet individual and team deadlines and goals. Strong knowledge of VUL business, ADMI configuration and testing is preferred.
Success in this role requires leadership ability among peers, excellent oral and written communication skills, and effective collaboration with others, both internal and external to the team and company. The candidate should be self-motivated and show an inquisitive nature, seek improvements, and demonstrate strong accuracy and attention to detail. Other abilities include accepting responsibility and accountability for own job and performance, demonstrating independent workbehaviors, and having decision-making skills to achieve desired results.
Primary Responsibilities:
    • Elicit, Compose and maintain business requirements for system enhancements and implementation of new products. Use multiple techniques such as interviews, group facilitation, prototyping, business process descriptions, data analysis, use cases or workflow analysis to capture the requirements based on the need. Work with software developers to help provide a clear understanding of the requirements. Ensure requirement documents are complete and conform to defined standards.
    • Create, maintain and coordinate updates to system data elements and configurable applications, including rules, values, tables and output with little or no development resource assistance. Configurations should accurately drive calculations and processes defined in the requirements.
    • Create and run queries to generate, validate, and analyze data from various applications.
    • Create, publish, maintain and execute test plans and specific test cases for solutions based on documented requirements and systems design specifications. Review results with business to ensure test results are as expected.
    • Diagnose and manage production defects to a successful resolution. Work with software developers within the team or across the organization to resolve problems. Test and document defect fixes and communicate resolution back to the customer. Consult with end-users concerning corrective actions as needed in a calm and professional manner.
    • Provide end-user training when appropriate.
    • Support system stability efforts by learning about the existing products and future product functionality, performing regression testing, identifying potential impacts to existing business, and helping to develop repeatable processes for future regression testing and future products/enhancements.
    • Utilize appropriate project tracking methodologies and database(s) to manage multiple projects through the project life cycle. Document moderately complex project phases, provide regular status updates, and assist with creating effective release/implementation plans.
    • Use leadership skills in all aspects of the position, work well with teammates and those outside the team, be collaborative in meetings and discussions and assist teammates as needed or required. Provide leadership for small project teams working on systems enhancements/new products to ensure timely and accurate delivery throughout the lifecycle.
Job Requirements / Preferences:
    • Must have Life or Annuity experience. VUL experience preferred
    • Experience on LIDP's Administrator (ADMI) systems preferred
    • Experience with agile project methodology preferred
    • Moderate analytical and problem-solving skills; competent to work in many system analysis phases and to consider moderate business implications of applying technology to the current and future business environment
    • Ability to work effectively under very tight deadline pressure
    • Clear use of the English language in written and oral communications and the ability to interpret and communicate technical information to non-technical personnel and vice versa
    • Ability to act with diplomacy in resolving conflict, consulting and in acting as an agent in charge
    • Must be self- motivated, able to work independently and willing to self-teach and take responsibility for ongoing professional development
Protective's targeted salary range for this position is $75,000 to $115,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective's total compensation package for employees.
This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.
